Spring Break 2017
Very nice park with concrete pads. Very close to everything Williamsburg and we will definitely keep this location for our next return.
Great stay at American Heritage
This is a beautiful campground. Spent a week there and didn't want to leave. Good sized sites, concrete and totally level. Recently paved roads. No activities but so much to do in area. Quiet but close to I-64 so easy access. Would definitely return.
Not what they advertise
I will first start off by saying half of the campground is under construction, lots of construction noise during the day. They advertise a military discount, they did not give me a military discount because the weekly discount was "good enough". Also after staying for over a week I asked about leaving one day early was shown a sign they have posted that they do not give refunds for early departures. No exceptions, I would just like to thank them for charging me for services which will not be rendered. To be fair they had a sign posted, it will be a lesson learned for me I will not be staying here again or any other park owned by these people. I will keep my eyes open for signs advertising what is effectively theft from now on.
Memorial Day Weekend 2013
Reservations (by phone) and check-in were very easy. All the sites were pull throughs with fairly level concrete pads. We chose a standard full hook-up site. All the hook-ups were good, no issues with the exception of the WiFi. We were within easy view of the office and could get more than a single bar of WiFi coverage. We have iPads, androids, and kindles no luck. When asked about the coverage, the lady at the desk was very rude and told us that nothing was wrong with their coverage. Not impressive customer service.
It is located in a good location. Easy access onto interstate 64 or drive about a mile to Richmond Rd (lot of food or shopping choices). We could get to any of the attraction in no time.
Overall a pretty good experience. Thanks.
poor customer service
Staff had very poor people skills. They also are not very good at place the right size rvs in correct size sites. Once they give you a site don't complaint, because their response will be "just leave". I stayed in a motorhome on a small site while popup campers were on large sites. Roads were narrow and in need or repair. Would not stay there again.
Weekend stay at American Heritage
Campground easy to find and access off of exit 231A on I64. Check in was quick with advanced registration and office crew very friendly. We did a full hookup sight that had a large picnic table and located next to a big shade tree. We had a Class A 33 ft and plenty of room to manuever. Plenty of trees dispersed throughout the RV park for ample shade. The wifi and cable service was very good with about 46 channels including 8 movie channels offered.
Even though it was advertised that trash pickup was around 11am, several rounds a day were made. Squirrels will get into your trash so you may want to keep an eye out for them. The nature trail is about a mile long and takes about 20 to 25 minutes to navigate at a leisurely stroll. Wide enough to bring pets on a leash.
The inground pool was nice but we didn't go into the game room. Golf carts can be rented for 35 dollars a day and they will bring a wood burning barrel to your site if you want a fire. Wood is offered for sale in the office.
The office has a good selection of condiments ans snacks along with t-shirts, shot glasses and small items for children. There is a good selection of basic products for RVs and campers including 30-50 amp and 50-30amp adapters, both male and female combinations along with chocks, hanging hooks for lights, mats, plugs, and various lights both for auto and RVs. Basic soft drinks and water offered but you'll have to go into town for beer.
There is a big field available if you like to just pitch a tent and the bathrooms are immaculate. They have individual shower rooms in the bathrooms with a shower and bench area with wooden doors that lock so privacy is assured. Also comes in handy if you are a parent trying to corral littles ones into the shower without having to worry about them running off.
The fenced in dog run should give your pet plenty of room to run in but there are two gated entries so I recommend you make sure both gates are shut and latched before turning your pet loose. A basic playgound close by the office offers a play area for children but it is close to the road so a word of caution advised.
The premium lots are very nice. Lot #38 is the largest and all have gas grills, firepits, a table with umbrella that seat six, and a patio area with a small brick wall.
Overall a nice quiet campground. Met a lot of retired military and if you are a member of S.M.A.R.T., they do a lot of get togethers there. Everyone is very friendly. The only detractor I saw was the miniature golf course needs some work but a minor distraction given how nice the rest of the RV park was. I highly recommend to anyone and will be making return trips in the future.
