Outdoor Recreation Park

Point Mallard is on the banks of the Tennessee River. The campground is close but not on the banks. This park if a full blown recreational facility with a water park, light ball fields, 18 hole golf course, batting cages, ice rink etc and is heavily trafficed by the locals. The rec. facilities are all within walking distance of the CG and you'll hear a fair bit of noise from the rec area. The CG is mostly shaded, gravel sites with a nice bath house. This is not a rustic park or one you'd want to go to if you want to "get back to nature". The bike trail was nice and followed along the banks of the river/lake. The CG was easy to negotiate but camp sites tend to be pretty snug next to your neighbors. We stayed there for a couple of weeks as a base camp due to having business in Decatur and not there for the recreational activities.
If you are looking for a recreational park this one could be a 5 star for you. I'm giving it 2 since its not the kind of park I would seek out.
