Amazing creek side spaces
Full hook up, self- check in with a digital kiosk that takes credit cards or cash.
No reservations, but when we called, they told us how many sites were open.
It?s really easy to get around from here. Also, the campground is not full of the ?lake crowd?. It is Quiet and relaxing.
We have the trailer backed all the way to rear of the site and the rear window is nearly over the clear, spring-fed creek.
What a gem
Was very impressed with this campground. Full hookups, well maintained, tall trees and a creek. All for $12 a night with your senior pass. All the sites are paved and quite a few can accomodate a large motorhome. Leveling was the only challenge we had. Bring plenty of blocks. We stayed for 5 days in our 39 ft motorhome and hated to leave. Highly recommend this place for some relaxing and unwinding.
Hiking distance to Hot Springs
If you want to hike to the heart of the Hot Springs hot springs, you can do it from this campground. It's about 1.5 miles overland, up a steep hill, across the ridge and then downhill to the main street.
There is a lovely creek that runs through the campground and 24 of the sites sit along the creek. However, 10 of them don't have electric and water. It is only $10 a night for those sites; $5 if you have a Golden Age pass. The bathrooms are very nice, but there are no showers. A KOA and a church nearby will "sell" you a shower ($7.50 and $5 respectively).
The sites are flat, and most are level. No reservations, first-come, first-served. What a wonderful way to visit Hot Springs!
Beautiful Park
We've now camped here twice during our years on the road. A couple years back, this place was under renovations and only had a few dry camping site available. It was nice then, so we always wanted to return.
On our most recent visit, the entire park was open. We selected an electrical site, as it was a bit warm out on our visit. All sites are on a first come, first serve basis (no reservations), and even with it being the beginning of the peak tourist season - we were able to snag a creek-side spot. One of our favorite features of this park is the 'digital ranger' check-in system. You can pay the machine with cash or credit card for your site.
On this visit, we took advantage of the hiking trails that are accessible if you walk past the amphitheater. Great trails, although some of them are a bit strenuous. One of the more level trails will lead you to the visitor center and bath row - it's about a mile walk each way. Your other choice of visiting bath row is by driving.
We didn't have time on this visit, but on our prior visit we had a traditional bath & massage at Buckhouse - and it was awesome. Highly recommended.
Both AT&T and Verizon had strong 3G signal.
Great place & right in the tourist area
Great park in the forest. Fabulous stream running through that is a great swimming whole. Trailheads leading up and around the mountain. The only thing missing is a SHOWER..., but maybe they think the swimming hole makes up for that. Costs a little more than State Parks, but it is in the heart of the tourist area.
