Bad far outweigh the good points

*This is a private membership campground and we stayed as associated members through a sister club*

Canyon Creek has it’s good and bad points but to me, the bad outweigh the good. The good points are, It’s close to Lake Berryessa. The sites are level and large, clean, and well groomed. They do have a lot of things for the whole family to do, two well maintained pools. A hot tub/spa, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, a rec center with pool table, camp store and café. A good amount of security, 2 dump stations with a honey wagon service are available to members for free. Associate members pay a small fee $15 to use this service.

Now for the bad points. They are right next to Hwy 128 and there is a tremendous amount of road noise 24/7. The Wi-Fi service is a pay service which I don’t mind BUT the owners have blocked access to any and every website that has any form of streaming video on it. I get my mail through Comcast and had no access to it over the weekend. Now some may say no big deal, but they do not inform you of this before you pay for internet access and then refuse to give you any kind of refund. Also, the access you pay for is limited to one device. If you wanted to do 2 devices, you need a separate subscription for that second device. The code locks to the device you use it on first. The bathrooms I saw were horrible to say the least and were NOT ADA compliant as they claim they are. The restroom in area B was filthy, the 2 stalls on the men’s side were 26” wide, the showers were 3’ x 3’ stalls. There are NO safety bars anywhere to be seen. Area c’s restroom as almost as bad, the stalls were a little wider and deeper but in no way were they ADA compliant. No safety rail or handle was in sight. I am debating if I should report it or not.

The picnic tables were old and rotten but if you were quick enough you could request a different one and they would bring it. No fire rigs anywhere in the park. The staff for the most part was pleasant to deal with.

This is a Membership Park

We used our Coast to Coast membership for $10 per night.

The park is located way out of the way and right amongst the mountains which made for no signal for our MiFi and/or our Verizon phone, there was actually no coverage from any of the companies and they did not offer Wifi. Our plan was to drive daily to a few nearby attractions that we were interested in visiting and coming back to our spot. But, because of the location, this was not going to be an easy task, so we changed our reservation for only one night.

With all of that being said, if you are into quiet peaceful nights, fishing (with a California license) in the Putah Creek that runs along the park, and just being with nature, then this is a park for you. They do have all the amenities, laundry, showers and a nice pool and spa. They have activities going on in the lodge and clubhouse all the time and there is also a convenience store and café on the premises.

The water here is awful, so be sure to put on your filter, something Jerry forgot until our first taste…YUCK!

Because of our needs, we would not recommend this park and we will not be returning any time soon.
