Traveler Reviews
Second Choice, see review
We began our stay searching for a camping space that did not require hand-rails and stair cases to access the picnic table and fire ring. We had reserved site 27 on-line at recreation.gov and upon arrival found the trailer pad to be free of overhanging limbs, flat and level enough, and easy for a beginner to back into. But the ground sloped quite sharply down from the edge of the pad and continued at an angle to the gravel pad with the picnic table, lantern post and fire ring about 20 – 30 feet away. We declined the site and roamed around looking for something more suitable, and flat all around. We found several already occupied, and settled on the one of two acceptable sites #60. Site #59 is most ideal but was occupied. It seems that nearly all of Holiday's trailer sites are alike in physical attributes. The pads are easy to back into. The pads are relatively level for the length. (I've seen some COE camp sites that run down or uphill and make a turn backing into it, but this is not the case at Holiday.) There are a good scattering of toilet buildings. There are a few good shower buildings but most people would drive to them than walk from their campsites. The entire campground is kept neat, clean and public restrooms clean and stocked with important paper. The sites are quite spacious and separated by at least 50 feet up to 100 feet and a few are isolated.
Question: Would we return? It is on our go to list in the event we cannot get a reservation at Whitetail Ridge or R. Shafer Heard. No reflection on the camp host, just we would rather not have to have hand lines to exit and re-enter the travel trailer. Spartan Caver
Great Place to stay
2nd time we've stayed at the park. It's very nice and clean. Everything was perfect. Planning another trip in a few weeks. Would recommend.
Excellent Campground
We stayed in a first come-first served site over the Spring Break weekend and it was perfect. The site was beautiful. The attendants were friendly. The bathrooms were extremely clean. The campground was full, but ran smoothly and it was an awesome experience!
