Wonderful Family Vacation

We stayed here 4days/3nights. We purchased the snow mountain camping package for four people which included 2 campground nights, 2 days in the park, a two hour snow tubing session, a fire wood bundle, and a s'mores pack. We added and fifth person and an extra night which brought the total to $400. The normal cost of just a single night is listed at $49. The entrance to the park itself is not included and was an extra $15 per vehicle. The do give you a dated pass for unlimited entries afterwards. There were several restaurants just a few miles outside the gate. We stayed on L-285. The staff was very hepful and accommodating and check-in was a breeze. The site was adequate for our 33' T/T, but a little more room would have been nice. Due to the vicinity of the trees, we were unable to full extend the awning. Ours was a asphalt pad with gravel extension, a concrete picnic table, bbq grill, and stone fire ring. The sewer line had no threads or cover. They had plenty of room to walk the dogs along the access road. The campsites were very peaceful and quiet.

Happy Campers

The pads could be better; bit too rough and some too steep.
The staff was extremely nice! Would recommend going to the Stone Mt. Park and seeing the FREE laser show. Well worth it!
We will be back!

Good Stop

This is a good park with easy access to Atlanta. Stone Mountain has a ton of activities for the family, but a lot costs extra. The campground is very big and can feel crowded.

Cramped and unkempt

I had heard that this is a great place to visit. True. The park and Laser show were awesome. But the RV site was terrible. First, you have to pay $10 just to enter the park. THEN you pay for the RV site as well. I had made a reservation, so they knew what kind of site I needed. I was put in a "pull-through" site (ha!) that was so tight and on the edge of a cliff. I had to unhook my car immediately and maneuver my rig multiple times to get it as level as possible and away from a big tree. My site also seemed to be the only muddy and rocky site. The 50 amp was out, but at least they came right away to repair it. The guys that came to fix it were not very friendly and they talked to me like I was stupid. Wifi was non-existent. Never again.

Mighty fine for families

Plenty to do around the camp. Hiking, swimming, canoeing & activities for the kids. Lots of Civil War artifacts to view in the museums as well as the Mountain top. The laser show is great in the summer time!

Strongly recommended

Overview: $960/6wk stay. Be sure to get park membership: $100 fee saves 20% on stay and lots more (wish I knew)
- electric included. Full hookup 20/30/50. Clean water. Free Internet with strong signal but slow- don't expect to stream movies. Cell reception is no problem but Clear Internet signal was weak
-staff and guests could not be better. Nightly gatherings around campfires- always welcoming. Staff went out of their way for me on a few occasions. Great security.
- 30-45 min from downtown Atlanta/Decatur
- on grounds store notably overpriced considering Walmart, along with multiple fast food, banks, gas stations etc less than 5 min away.
- be sure to hike. Very scenic and I'm confident this place is save given the number of after dark runners.

Huge campground

Many of the campsites overlook the manmade lake and Stone Mountain. The campground is across the lake from the mountain, so don't plan on walking or biking to the mountain attractions, unless you are ready for real exertion. Many of the campsites are not level, and some are what I consider unlevelable. We chose water and electric and were right near the water with lots of trees. There are few comfort stations given the number of sites so they clearly expect people to use their own facilities.
They accept Passport America for 1 night and maybe must in the off season. The season seems to start April 1st and there isn't anything going on in the park at this time of the year. We did hike to the top of Stone Mountain and the ride to the top is functioning.
