Beautiful!!!

Beautiful place, wonderful for walking and enjoying nature. However, some of the electric hookups don't work, there is some highway noise, and sober of the spots are very unlevel. Even so we would return.

Another thing is there is a nuclear power plant a few miles away.

hiking plus

My husband and I enjoy taking our grandchildren and great nieces camping at Lowden. The kids have a great time learning and we get lots of exercise.

Shady and flat

I love shady, flat parks. And this one qualifies in spades. However, the trees are situated such that it doesn't interfere with getting into or out of the campsite. We asked the camp host and he suggested sites 26 and 28; perfectly level. Wonderful!
The bathrooms are modern; 2 toilets, 2 showers, with 1 each being handicapped size. There is electric at each site but no water. There are water faucets scattered throughout the campground near the road and you can fill your tank from any one of them. The town and river are down the hill. Interesting area.
If you want electricity, be sure to come to the top of the hill and turn left (as you come up the hill). The earlier campsites (38 of them) across the road do not have electricity.
Also check out the statue by Loredo Taft on the bluff overlooking the river. It is in honor of native Americans but has come to be called the Black Hawk statue.
