Beautiful park! Great bargain!
We stayed here overnite middle of hottest July on record in 2012! Park is Huge and there are lots of dune trails to explore and is a birders paradise! sites are nicely set out, and a sandy beach on Lake Michigan a ten minute walk away. Paved and ADA accessible! One peeve: Our site's picnic table had been taken by campers across way that had 3 picnic tables in use! Other than poor park supervision, we enjoyed our overnite stay! Out of state will pay 10.00 entrance fee each nite. Reflected in daily fee below!
Enjoyed our stay!
My husband and I, and our two dogs, stayed at the Dunes for several days. In fact, we enjoyed the park so much, we extended our stay. The park is clean, has well maintained trails, and the beach has an area for our dogs to swim. The park staff was visible, kept up with the property, and very helpful.
The park has a train station right outside the entrance, making it easy to visit our daughter in Chicago.
I deducted one star because some sites are a little too close together and there is a separate entrance fee charged, over and above the camping fees.
Dunes
Camped here for a third Easter weekend in a row. Great time, hardly any other campers and good weather, although nights can get chilly.
Dunes
Great state park. Beautiful beach with tall dunes, campground is new in 2007 large flat sites with asphalt pads. Good bathroom facilities.
In the dunes
Very open campground but with lots of trees. Surrounded by huge, sand-covered dunes. We tried a number of sites and all were level. New modern bathrooms. Short paved walk to Lake Michigan and the beach. Lovely ‘ambience’.
