Lots of families
When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon in May, there were about 40 little boys on various wheeled vehicles playing in the road by our campsite. This seems to be a family-oriented campground. By Sunday night, about 10% of the sites were occupied and it was VERY quiet. There are lots of trees, although many sites are in the wide open. The Kentucky River runs next to the park, but not so close that you have to worry about your kids. If you want to fish, they will even lend you a pole.
A 1974 replica of Fort Boonesborough (Daniel and his friends) has been built on top of the hill (the fort actually was down by the river but periodically got flooded out). Very well done, extremely knowledgeable reenactors. Most sites are quite flat. The restrooms are okay but nothing to write home about. Each site has a table and fire ring and lots of space between the sites.
There are lots of activities on Thursday through Saturday, at least at this time of the year. Maybe all week during the summer. The swimming pool was getting ready to open and is quite large.
