Scenic park with great camping facilities
One of the best maintained campgrounds we've ever seen. As others have said, the waterfalls are magnificent and easily accessible via short trails from paved parking lots. Camping is a 5 or so miles from all the activities, but we liked that. We had preregistered so check-in was easy. If you have dogs, make sure you book in one of the dogs allowed loops. Have their shot records and be able to point out the rabies expiration date. The folks at checkin are serous about this! Campsite in the 700 loop was nearly level and good sized for our Class B. Electric only, but potable water spigots are scattered around along the road. Bath houses are amazing! Large, private rooms with locks in great condition. They even appear to be ADA compliant with convenient safety bars and benches. We camped there for two nights and wished we had been able to stay longer. Wonderful place!
Huge state park
This park has over 14,000 acres of scenic attractions, lots of trails to hike, a spectacular gorge and 3 waterfalls. Lots of campsites, okay bathrooms. The campsites are about 12 miles north of the most scenic parts and the waterfalls, but about 2 miles away from the swimming pool.
Avoid site 809; we reserved that site sight unseen and when we arrived we found it was so vertical that there was no possibility of leveling our RV. They moved us to a temporary site for the night because we were staying for a week and all sites were reserved for the weekend. The next day a supervisor came up with 3 possibilities for us and we moved into one that required no leveling. Quite a contrast.
Loop 200 is pretty open; loops 300, 400, 500, and 600 have lots of trees. Loop 800 has a lot of uneven sites.
You pay more for reserving and for being out of state.
17 Mile-Long Scenic Gorge
3 Major Waterfalls
