Far from perfect

There are several other reviews posted here that are very positive and for the most part it's a very nice park but there are some issues we encountered. The park itself has very level pull-thru sites and is easily accessible off of the interstate highway. The sites are fairly close together and at times makes site access difficult if vehicles are parked in the roads. It's very noisy from both the interstate highway at the front of the park as well as a state highway at the rear of the park.

The park offers cable television but it did not work at our site. Fortunately several channels are available using the rooftop antenna and satellite works fine as there are no trees in the park. The park offers 30 amp and 50 amp service of course but the 30 amp did not work at our site; we simply plugged into the 50 amp using an adapter. The park offers complimentary wifi but it does not work thru probably 75% of the park; you can receive signal only from about the first couple of rows of sites that are near the office. This is a huge frustration for all of us; if wifi is advertised we expect to be able to at least use it for email and basic web information from the comfort of our RV's. The park offers a free breakfast but it's hardly anything worthwhile and normally sparsely taken advantage by guests. The park offers an exercise room, but it's just one lonely treadmill in a small room with books for sharing.

The bathrooms and shower facilities were top notch, and the playground is excellent for children. We also used the laundry facilities and they worked very well. The folks in the office could use some lessons in courtesy and having a sense of urgency towards some of the issues that exist. Things could be improved to justify what is a very expensive nightly rate for what was a very average stay for us. We stayed here in a travel trailer and might stay again if some of the shortcomings were resolved.

Great place to stay the night

Had a good experience here. Loved the cement pads to park our RV for the night. It was quiet but packed with other campers so they obviously have a good crowd of people staying there.

Decent Overnight Stay

On a chilly departure out of Texas heading east, we selected this park so we could keep warm overnight. It served that function quite well!

All sites are pull-thru, which is nice for those just passing though. However, the row we were assigned was a bit tight to approach with all the trucks parked in the sites that overflow onto the street. Also, the hook-ups are at the extreme rear of the site - which almost forced us to have to unhook our towed so that we could both hook-up and be off the street. We could not get completely straight in our site as a result, and our Mini Cooper was left slightly on the grass.

The staff was very friendly on check-in, which was a breeze. There is a free continental breakfast in the morning, which is a nice bonus.

We were however disappointed that the advertised WiFi was down while we were there. Looking at reviews elsewhere, seems this is a common problem for this location - perhaps it's time to not advertise this amenity so prominently?

All and all - we were happy to have an easy place to pull off I-10 for the night, keep warm and rest up for the drive ahead.

Rate reflects our Passport America rate - the full nightly rate of $40 is a bit ridiculous.

Overnight Stay

We always stay here as our overnight stop as the sites and interior roads are concrete. There is easy access from I-10. There is a pool and exercise room. There is a free breakfast and wifi available. Staff is friendly

Three comments: when the snow birds and Winter Texans are leaving a reservation is highly recommended. Also the amount of rain this region receive can cause the sites to be VERY soggy. The concrete pads are welcomed -- though sometimes the pedestal may be submerged in water which is why we give this three stars.

There are a lot of sites with contract workers who stay for long periods of time. We were pleased to see that management appears to have 'cleaned' up the sites, as some of them were getting rather 'cluttered'. It looks much better this visit.

Big rigs can maneuver easily. $20/night reflects our Passport America rate. We stayed here in a 45' motorhome with toad. WE will stay here again.

We have been staying here for about 6 months and plan on staying another 6 due to our work. We have a 2 yr old son who loves the pool & the playground. The sites are great, the amenities are great & the people who work here are Wonderful! I would recommend this place to anyone!
