Is Self Registration the Way to Go?

We never seen anyone associated with the park, since we self-registered and paid $25.64 for a FHU, including WiFi and Cable TV, using our Good Sam 10% discount since they were not honoring our CampClub USA 50% discount as it was listed.

It was a smaller park located right on Highway 101, not much traffic but it could be heard. The roads and sites were gravel but were level without any potholes. The restrooms and shower area were clean but were outdated.

Without any personal contact, this place did not stand out to us and if we are ever in the area again, we would look elsewhere for another park to stay, unless they were honoring one of our 50% clubs.

By signing up for a Players Card...

You will receive a 15% discount. We paid $18.19 per night for a FHU Back-in including cable, WiFi and free 24 hour shuttle service to the casino.

The sites were paved, level and able to accommodate big rigs with enough room for your tow vehicle.

Very modern and well maintained restrooms/showers and laundry facilities. They offered free coffee all day in the office, and provide an assortment of goodies you may have forgotten to pack in the store.

Every person affiliated with the casino we came in contact with was very gracious and willing to go above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here and highly recommend it to everyone.

Not a Bad Price for California Coast

We paid $35 for a FHU back in with cable and WiFi, using our Value Kard. Having cable and WiFi is not a plus for us since we use our MiFi card exclusively, except when we do not have service which is NOT very often and we set up our satellite dish because we love watching our programs according to our East/West stations. But, we include it in our review for those of you who want this service.

Being off season, there was plenty of spaces available. We chose to be situated right next to the bigger laundry facilities since that was one of our goals. The washers took $1 to wash and the dryers took a quarter per 10 minutes, which they worked so well, it took less than a dollar for each dryer. The restrooms, showers and laundry area was kept clean and well maintained.

The roads were paved, the sites were gravel and very level with enough room for us to hook up without hearing our neighbors breath. It was wet, damp and so foggy, there wasn’t a view at all. The hosts were very gracious, we pulled in during a break and checked out the self register for a site number, then we went into the office after 3pm to settle up.

It was very convenient for us since it was right on the 101 highway we were on and if we are ever in the area, we would stay here again.

This is a Membership Park

We stayed here using our Coast to Coast membership and paid $13 per night for a FHU back-in. They charge an additional $3 per night for sewer, otherwise for a water and electric would have only been the $10 per night.

The road into the park is a levee, a narrow, very wavy levee, but the scenery was fabulous and if you are into water activities, you are in the right place.

Looks like improvements are continuing but, they should have started in the laundry facilities. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers and the room is very large, just laid out badly. The paint is old and chipping and the washers were filthy with dog hair. We had to totally clean out each one of them before even using them, it was nasty. We understand that it is not entirely the fault of the park about the dog hair, that is a whole other story about irresponsible pet owners that we will not get into at this time. Having just 3 washer and dryers for a park with so many sites is just not beneficial to anyone. Doing laundry is always a chore, but having to wait for one to open up just drags out the process.

The sites were not level due to the very thick and long grass, not from not maintaining though, they mowed everyday we were there. We were a bit uncomfortable with the lawn mowers, they came right into our site and began mowing and weed whacking under and around our rig, outdoor furniture, tires and hookups. Usually they do not go into the sites that are occupied but these guys did, we kept a close eye on them so we could see if there was any damage done.

The roads are dirt and they keep the dust down tremendously with a watering sprinkling system that is designed to wet down the roads only, it was a fabulous setup.

On Friday, the weekend warriors showed up with all there boats, there were some real beauties. The staff were all exceptionally thoughtful and helpful. We got great phone reception which made for fantastic internet service and setting up our dish was no problem since we opted to be located in the open area they have available, otherwise they have some sites that never see the light of the sun due to extensive tree coverage. They do offer WiFi but no cable.

Looking back on this review, it may sound as if it is not a great park, for us that is true. Speaking to others, it is the perfect spot for them, so I guess you will have to be your own judge and decide whether it is right for you or not.

This is a Membership Park

We used our Coast to Coast membership for $10 per night.

The park is located way out of the way and right amongst the mountains which made for no signal for our MiFi and/or our Verizon phone, there was actually no coverage from any of the companies and they did not offer Wifi. Our plan was to drive daily to a few nearby attractions that we were interested in visiting and coming back to our spot. But, because of the location, this was not going to be an easy task, so we changed our reservation for only one night.

With all of that being said, if you are into quiet peaceful nights, fishing (with a California license) in the Putah Creek that runs along the park, and just being with nature, then this is a park for you. They do have all the amenities, laundry, showers and a nice pool and spa. They have activities going on in the lodge and clubhouse all the time and there is also a convenience store and café on the premises.

The water here is awful, so be sure to put on your filter, something Jerry forgot until our first taste…YUCK!

Because of our needs, we would not recommend this park and we will not be returning any time soon.

Adjacent to Boomtown Hotel & Casino

With our KOA 10% discount card, we paid $39.64 for a FHU back-in site which included cable and Wifi. We were greeted by a great host with great customer service who welcomed us as if we were long lost friends.

The first thing we noticed was the openness around the entire campground. There were a few shade trees scattered about but for the most part it was open. The park was huge with hundreds of sites, most were vacant at this time of the year.

We didn’t use any of the facilities but we checked them all out. The laundry room was attached to the office that had several washer and dryers and a great lounging area with free refreshments. They also had the showers, restrooms attached to the office and were spacious and very private. There was a pool and two spas located right outside the office which looked very inviting but we did not utilize them this trip.

After getting hooked up, we walked back to the office and called security from an available phone. Within minutes he arrived and drove us up the hill to the Casino. For the return trip all we had to do was walk outside to the security booth and again they were there within minutes. We loved the shuttle service, the drivers were very prompt and courteous.

We would highly recommend this place and if we are ever in the area again, we would certainly stay here.

Not the Best Place but Not the Worst Either!

Our site was paid for by our employer but if we had paid ourselves it would have cost us a weekly rate of $154.67, including taxes and 10% AARP discount. The sites were paved and some looked very rough but ours was flat. We had a 40’ back-in but it did not seem deep enough to accommodate a 40 footer.

We worked with Scootaround at the Reno Air Races for most of our stay here which was probably for the best since there was some major construction going on right behind our rig, the daytime noise went on most of the day. The nights were really quiet and it was not extremely lit up so we were able to sleep good.

Using the hotel’s amenities, the pool, the spa and the exercise room was included but we did not take advantage of any of them.

At check-in, they had us sign a waiver due to the water pressure being at 100psi, they were not kidding. When we left the rig for an extended period of time, we turned off our water. When we turned it on, we hardly turned the knob and used our regulator but the pressure in the rig, especially the shower was so hard it just about blew us out of the shower and of course the toilet turned into a bidet, that was sort of nice but…

They had a big laundry facilities that worked very well. The restrooms and showers were clean and well maintained, the showers had locked individual doors for each one for privacy and safety.

We would recommend this place and if ever in the area, we would stay again.

Not Many Options in the Area

With our KOA 10% discount membership card, we paid $31.47 for a FHU pull-thru. There are not many choices in the area and since we stayed here once before in 2008, we thought we would give it another try. We were pleased with it then and even though it is now under new owners, it was still just as nice. Nick, the new owner checked us in and was very friendly and efficient.

When you first come into the park the front row is filled with seasonals, so it is a bit deceiving because they have many open spaces for the overnighters but at first glance it tends to look full. They offer cable and Wifi at an additional cost, but since we have our own dish and MiFi card, we didn’t use them.

The restrooms and laundry area were well maintained and even though the park is on a highway, the noise is minimal and it was quiet and dark throughout the night. We would recommend this park and if ever in the area again, we would stay once more.

A Little Pricey

With our KOA 10% discount membership we paid $36.45 for a FHU pullthru. A little pricier then we like to spend but our drive is taking us to areas that there are not too many parks to choose from and the other one in the area had some pretty bad ratings. We were greeted by a very smiling face behind the counter who was very informative about the area, even though we were only spending one night she gave us some interesting places to see while we were in the area. The only one we took her up on was the restaurant next store which we thoroughly enjoyed. See our review post for all the delicious news.

The restrooms at the campground were a little outdated but they were kept very clean. There were only 3 to 4 washer and dryers in the laundry room. We hardly ever use their facilities but we would have been quite content if we had to use them.

The pool looked enticing but we passed on it since the weather was still quite cool in this area. They provided cable TV and Wifi at no extra cost. They do allow pets and adhere to their strict pet policies.

The park was quiet and not too overly lit up overnight, and even though the highway was close, the noise from it was not extensive.

A really nice park

With over 30 sites, most have water and electric with a free dump station on your way out of the park.

Restrooms and showers were clean. It is nestled between the mountains with spectacular views right on the Colorado River and has a very sereneness about it.

We could not find a satellite signal and no cell phone service was available but there was a pay phone outside the Ranger Station.

Amenities would not be the reason for camping here, instead the beauty of it all would be a great reason to give this park at least an overnight visit.

We used a State Park Pass and paid $23 for water and electric and if we are ever in the area again, we would absolutely stay here again.
