Awesome KOA

Due to an hurricane we ended heading up I-85 and found this CG for an overnite. Very impressed. Large sites, real food in office, nice pool & dog park. Not too much road noise. Clean park, nice people working. Offers activities for guests.

Nice overnite off I-65

Old park. Gravel sites. Poor wifi on farther out sites. Good water pressure. Nice pool. LeRoy at check in nice. Picked up 6 antenna stations. Could here I-65 traffic when sitting outside, not inside. No sewer at site. Dump on the way out near office, interesting arrangement. If you need a clean place to overnite with EZ on/off, not a bad place.

Closed to RV's

Unfortunately, this campground is closed. The owner is concentrating on other more profitable venues as he's had some bad experiences with certain campers. A few spoiled it for the rest of us. They still rent eclectic cabins on the creek and hold special functions in their clubhouse. It was great while it lasted.

Cute RV park

If you like NC wine, you'll love this place. Saturday activities include art class. They have wine tastings often. Neat little gift shop. Sites are FHU and fairly level. Good size, too. Nice pool. Old IGA 2 miles away.

Now Raleigh Oaks RV Resort

Park has been rebuilt after severe storm damage. 2 nice size pools, miniature golf course, pickle ball courts, workout facility, large laundromat, private showers, hundreds of FHU sites, shade is limited and grass is new and spartan at many sites. Great overnite CG. Neat country store down the road. Cable TV. Sites and roads are gravel, fairly level sites. EZ access to I-95 @ exit 90. Outlet mall 5 miles away. Social activities on holidays. This place will be really nice in a couple years when the new plants and grass get going.

Over rated park

We came here based on the wonderful reviews and ratings. Wow, what a let down. First, most sites are narrow. Our picnic table had to be placed behind the next site's trailer. There's a 2' wide strip of grass between sites. There is NO shade. You must walk down to the river to take your dogs out. Gravel sites & roads, a bit dusty. Ours was far from being level. Poor water pressure. There were some good things; snack bar that delivers to your site. Nice pool, nice pavilion for groups, many cable channels, close to Bristol Motor Speedway. Can be noisy on race nights. This is the best in the area, though.

Change for the worse

First off, if you are planning on going to this CG before June 2014, beware of a detour that adds 10 miles to your trip. Nothing was mentioned of this when I made reservations. This is an old CG purchased a couple of years ago. I reserved two adjacent sites. One was so muddy that the jacks on our friend's Class A kept sinking. Most sites are very narrow. Our friend's site was 4' away from the trailer in the next site. Our site was so unlevel that I needed three 2X10" boards to level our fiver.
As for "free" wi fi; it's free because it's virtually non existence with either no signal or such a weak signal it kept dropping us. During our previous visit in 2011, there was cable TV. Now, all the cables are cut at the post...no cable TV. Luckily we had our Dish Tailgater so we were able to watch March Madness. We had to move so we could get better satellite signal. That site was also unlevel. We set up our chairs outside over the sewer dump of the next site. Like I said, the sites are narrow. There is no dog park or dog run.
The CG was far from being full over the weekend, but for some reason, they originally assigned us some lousy sites. When I asked about this I was told sites are assigned when the reservations are made. When I made reservations, I asked what sites we were being assigned, she refused to tell me. Great, a person with attitude.
Overall, this could be a nice CG IF they:
1) Taught their employees the importance of customer relations.
2) Level the sites
3) expand the wi fi so it works throughout the CG
4) widen the old narrow sites.
That being said, we will not be returning to this CG.

Great place to stay if you like wine.

It is the wine vineyard that make this CG. They offer wine tastings and activities that will make your stay pleasurable and memorable. The sites are a little smaller than we usually prefer, but acceptable. The sites are level, very good water pressure, easy access, and very quiet. The park is clean as is the bath house. There's a new pool, also. The owners are very nice. HD cable TV is available. Wi fi, though it is weaker the farther you get from the front of the park. This place is out in the middle of no where so come prepared. There is a neat little super market a couple miles down the road.
If you like wine, you'll love the wine tasting. Be sure to request a wine float. This is a really neat little campground, a great place to spend a weekend.

Nice CG next to wine vineyard

The thing that makes this CG very good instead of average is its location. The office/wine bar/bed & breakfast is the nucleus of the place. It does have a new pool & gazebo at the bath house. Our site was level and had wood chips surrounding it. Water pressure was outstanding, but make sure you have two hoses as the spigot is at the far end of the site. That goes for the sewer hose, too. The personnel were friendly. Many tall pine trees that didn't offer the best shade. This place is quite off the beaten path so come prepared. The wine tastings are another unique feature here, but you better like sweet wine.
