It'll do in a pinch!

Location is prime for that stop over on I-65 between Birmingham and Montgomery AL. Almost all sites are pull through with full hookup and 50 amp. Inexpensive and truck island diesel right around the corner. Nice owners though the place is pretty thread bare and is not maintained very well.

Perfect Family CG

This campground is located on Kentucky Lake which is one of the two lakes that make Land Between the Lakes (LBL). It is a large spacious campground and you will not feel like somebody is sitting on top of your site. It offers sites that are shady, sunny, wooded, or right next to the lake...something for everyone! It has a variety of CG loops, non electric, electric, and one small full hook up loop. There are common spigots for water on All loops other than the full hook up, but no water per site. Also note, only the full hook up loop (Dogwood) has 50 amp service. Plenty of bathhouses with washer/dryers, two boat ramps, good fishing, sandy beach, playgrounds and a great common ground area with basketball courts, a baseball field and a pavilion used for organized crafts for kids and bluegrass music through the summer months. This is a enclosed campground and there is no through traffic or day use area. It has a dump station and camp store with bike rentals and sporting equipment available. It also has a paved bike trail through the woods.
Area wise, LBL offers a LOT of activities throughout the 40+ miles of federal park land with plenty to see and do in the area.
Verizon is strong, AT&T is spotty.
Day rate varies according to ammenity. I'm posting the rate for the electric sites.

The Ritz of State Park Campgrounds

Topsail Hill Peserve SP is a premier camping destination in the NW region of Florida. This CG has it all, large level concrete pads, landscaped privacy, full hook ups on every site, pool, shuffle board, an hourly shuttle to the beach, hiking trails and more. The campground is about a mile from the beach but is an easy bike ride or take the shuttle. There is a bath house by the boardwalk and about 3 miles of dunes, sand and ocean. Destin is to the west but too far away to feel crowded. The one tiny drawback is they do NOT allow campfires at this park. This is a very mainicured campground and top notch in every way.

Old Florida State Park

If you want an "old Florida" state park vacation, this is the one! 2 camping loops, Gulf Breeze (GB) and Shady Pines (SP). We have a 29' TT and Shady Pines is not the loop for us as it is tight with a lot of trees close to the very narrow road. The GB loop is much more to our liking as it is right over the dune from the beach and while more open also much easier to maneuver in. Though there are some real stinker campsites that our TT will not fit into, so plan ahead, do the research and get the site that is right for your rig!
If you are looking for a throwback State Park, this is the one for you! It is very close to the Gulf and isolated yet not too far away from Port St Joe or even better Apalachicola. The fishing is very good, there is a dump station and the bath houses are well maintained. It harkens back to simpler times.

Beach campground

I have camped here since the mid 60's when I was a kid. I love this park for a lot of reasons, the beach, the pre civil war fort, the coastal defence batteries, the white sand and most of all my history with the place.
But, it all changed since the huricane season of 2004. The trees are mostly gone as are the dunes. Campground A is more intact and more like "old Florida" than B. A still has trees and some dunes and is a smaller cg. Both cg's have fresh blacktop but shallow drives. The bathhouses are small and outdated and there is no sewer on any sites.
CG A has closer access to the beach than B though both are a walk from the CG.s.

Great Stop Over Park

Close to I-65, inexpensive, friendly owner, all sites full hook up and pull through. Only reason I gave this park 4 out of 5 stars is because the do NOT have a bathhouse. We use this park every time we return from the Florida panhandle to our home near Nashville TN. Do not accept credit cards. Buy their fresh eggs, 25 cents each. Great stop over!

Wonderful stay over park

We use this park every year on our way to Florida from Tennessee. A lot of pull throughs and most of the park has full hook ups. Clean restroom. Inexpensive and friendly staff. Good Sam accepted. Dont recall but I don't think they accept credit cards, but could be wrong about that.
