rip off, he double charged our card and won't give a refund
This man, GENE is so wrong, he is the owner and has gotten $292 from us for a 4 night stay in an RV park that is only supposed to be $32 a night. He said I made the mistake and that he wouldn’t refund my money for it. Meanwhile, his credit card machine and employee made the mistake and double charged my dad and he won’t refund that either. Don’t be fooled, don’t stay here!
I made a reservation on jan 3, 2014 over the phone for our stay from jan 15-19. I kept repeating myself that we were coming Wednesday and leaving Sunday. Gene kept asking, “next week?” and I kept saying no, we are coming on Wednesday January 15 and leaving Sunday, January 19, 4 nights total. I mailed a $32 check on 1/5/14 for the deposit.
The sign out front and their website both say $25 a night, which is what we paid in January 2013 without reservations. Whatever, people are allowed to raise their prices, so I agreed to pay $32 a night.
I was meeting my parents in Quartzsite, they were coming from Cali and I from Phoenix. I got there first with my trailer, the office was closed. The next morning (Thursday), they came knocking on the door for a payment. My dad went to pay because I was busy trying to get my 2 yr old to eat her breakfast. My dad, not knowing what the charges even should have been, cause I made the reservations, paid what they told him they owe, $128. Well, they charge $2 per hundred for using a credit card for payment (illegal), so they ran my dad’s credit card for $132, well the credit card machine didn’t work right and my dad was told the purchase didn’t go through, so he gave them $128 in cash.
On Friday night (after the office closed), my Dad told me how much he had paid. I said wait a minute, it was supposed to be $128 total and they still had my deposit check, granted they had not cashed it. So I went up to the office on Saturday to get my check. Gene said that people come all the time, wanting to stay for a week and then want to leave early and get a refund, so he doesn’t give refunds. I advised him that I have to be at work on Monday morning at 7a, I was never staying Sunday night and I didn’t even need the hassle of a refund and that I would just like my check back and he refused. Meanwhile, my Dad’s credit card was charged for $132, on top of the $128 in cash he got and the $32 deposit check I gave.

He kept telling me that they don’t just make up the dates that people are coming to stay and that I must have said that I was staying Sunday night in order for them to write it down.
I placed a stop payment on the check and it ended up clearing anyway, 3.5 weeks after I wrote it and a week after our stay at the park.
I plan to send him post cards every time I am staying at one of his competitor’s rv parks in Quartzsite. It’s not like he is the only rv park in town, people have lots of options.
