Great fishing camp

Have used this campground since I was a kid. Good hookups and well spaced out spots. Plenty of shade from huge cottonwood trees. The water level was up higher than I have seen in years so you could use the cove and sheltered boat ramps. Years ago the water level was quite lower and there was no shelter from the frequent winds that can whip up. The camp has fish cleaning facilities, plenty of boat trailer parking, and a well stocked store. Prices are surprisingly low on stuff saving you from having to pack tons of gear or having to make trips to Ogallala. Fuel is a little pricey but you expect that when it is specially trucked in. My only gripe are the other inconsiderate campers who pay little attention to the rules. Things like speeding through the campground or letting their garbage blow everywhere is the norm. Usually the offenders have green license plates which is hard to admit as I have them too and am ashamed of some of the stupidity. With that said, don't let that scare you away. I will keep coming back.

Clean and quiet.

Off the beaten path which means no highway noise. The only thing we heard at night was the creek. The staff takes great pride in keeping the place clean. Warm pool, propane on site, and an ice cream social for the kiddos on Saturday. Was very close to town and had digital TV signal but the cell service was weak (I see that as a plus). The family liked this place a lot and we will stay here the next time we are in the Durango area.

Lots of room.

Estes Park has always been one of our go to quick camp trips. We have stayed at other campgrounds which were nice, but space was tight. Maneuvering the trailer into the spot was a chore. This place has plenty of room. It is obvious as most of the larger trailers and busses stay here. The hook ups were clean and set up well. The view was great, and the pool was warm and clean. Free coffee. :)

Will be staying here again.

Great history

Clean campground with tons of history. Decent facilities and well laid out. Easy to get into. Only gripe was that the sewer hook up was 20' away from the side of our camper. Our hose and extender would not reach. Will simply dump in the morning before we leave. Not a lot of shade in the new campground, check google earth and the map before reserving spots. The older campground has great shade but no sewer hook ups. Would stay here again.

Centrally located

Nice campground centrally located in Rapid City. Easy drive to all the amenities. Clean facilities with a very nice pool and great breakfast in the morning. Two playgrounds for the kids and two laundry facilities. Only miss is the race track less than a mile away. I had to check to make sure the top fuel dragster wasn't stuck under my bed. They race on Friday nights from 7pm to 11pm. I would stay there again, but be advised it is LOUD.

Great view

One of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. The devils tower park is right behind your camp spot. Great pool and playground for the kids. Two gripes... The dump station is located on a sharp corner which makes it hard to use, but it won't be an issue if you have a full hook up. We mistakenly reserved a spot without sewer so we had to go that route. The other complaint was a squeaky electrical motor on the back of the restaurant. You could hear it across the campground and it made the nightly viewing of Close Encounters extremely painful. Despite those items, we would stay here again and would recommend it. Hopefully they fix the squeak.
