NEVER AGAIN!!!

I took my 3 teenagers and a 4th teen camping with me. When I 1st got there my experience was wonderful. The campground is owned and operated by a very knowledgeable & hospitable couple with the help of a few groundskeepers. I found my 1st week and a half very relaxing and the teens had a great time making new friends. However, that all changed after the owners went to Ireland for a family reunion leaving a 19 yr old in charge. He was very overwhelmed with the responsibilities of running the campground and made rules up as he went. When confronted about the rules not posted, he would become very cocky and say we were wasting his time then the next day apologize. I was camping alone throughout the week and my husband would come out on the weekends. The first rule he made up was there had to be 2 parents or legal guardians on the beach in order for the children to swim so the teens didn't swim until the weekend when my husband got there. I ended up taking the teens to Greenwood Park (an hr away) just so they could swim. The last straw (another rule he made up) was when my husband & I wanted to go 10 min away for ice cream while the teens watched a movie in the camper. The 19 yr old informed me I had to be at the site with the teens. So I informed him I was having a friend come up to stay with them and he said the campsite's registered to me and I had to be with the teens. He went on telling me that my husband (3 of the teens father) couldn't even be left with them and that he dictates who can visit the campsite. My husband asked if there had been any problems or concerns with our family and the 19 yr old responded no. He said he was going to call CPS if I left the children at the campsite alone or with anyone else. I ended up calling the children's grandmother and cancelling her plans of coming to visit her grandchildren the next day. Then the 19 yr old comes to my campsite and apologizes again with the same speech he had previously gave regarding the swimming rule he made up. I explained to him that he could not dictate my site, just as a landlord can't run renters home. I ended up posting a NO TRESSPASSING sign and I explained to him that I had paid for my site and I didn't want him on my site unless we are breaking a written rule or violating a law and at that point he was to come with law enforcement or I would have him arrested for trespassing & harassment. I ended up calling law enforcement because he sent someone else creeping through our site at 11:30 at night. I was thankful for my dog barking or we would have never known. We left after giving our 7 day notice and called the owners when they returned. We explained our experience and requested a refund. The male 1/2 said it was too bad we had the experience we did and he would send us a refund for the unused time. I have not seen the refund. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. It was not family friendly and we all felt like we were imprisoned. It is ridiculous our teenagers couldn't even go to the bathroom or shower without my husband or I escorting them.
