Get away from it all

8 miles from i10 and 3 miles from Marianna.

Spent a couple of nights here and we're about 3-4 miles into the park and it's truly a get away from it all site.

Limited internet. Lots of trees and trails.

Checkin fairly easy. Book in advance for weekends and holidays.

Modernized restrooms and paved roads. The sites (except the concrete ADA sites) are dirt sites, so if you have a mat etc for outside your RV you will need it.

Each site has sewer, 50/30amp, water hook up. Firepit, clothesline and picnic bench.

We would return.

Great stop off from i10. Clean.

Nice well laid out. Full hook up (including sewer). No 50amp tho and compared to other state parks these sites are a little closer together. Still enough privacy tho and the shower/toilets are modern and clean.

Definitely the place to stop off at as you drive i10.

We will return

Clean restrooms. Well laid out. Slight lack of privacy

If the public restrooms and facilities are important to you then this is an ideal park.

First the basics:

Greeting: 5/5 park rangers had us park up, come in and explained where the site was, gate code and map.

Camp site: easy to get to. Slightly tight in some places with lots of trees. But we only hit one low hanging light branch... And it was signposted. Lol.

We stayed at site52. All sites are surrounded by a small fence. Camp fire and small clothes line (Eagle Scout project). Easy to back into - I didn't see any pull through sites. 3/5 just because the sites are close together. (About 10ft to next site. But easily visible what your neighbors are doing)

Restrooms and facilities were amazing. Cleanest I've ever seen. Family shower room. Laundry. Vending machine. Really really nice.

We will definitely return. It's only 30 mins from our house and is well worth the fee.

Lots to do at the fort $2 entry.
Wheelchair accessible and if you need a beach wheelchair there are some available with notice.

Camp sites 1-29 are on Atlantic coast. 30-62 are on the river side. Quite a distance between sites so if you're coming as a group make sure you specify when booking.

Great scenery - sites close

So there's 44 sites beautiful scenery on the lake. Fishing, playground. Hike n bike trails. Bikes for hire too. Only complaint is no privacy in the sites. They are all joined on. No trees/bush privacy.

Weekend getaway

First time RV'ing. We only stay about 60 miles away so we packed up and drove to this park for a weekend break.

We arrived after dark, greeted by rangers who have us a map of the park (keep it - comes in handy).

Sites are huge. Each site can easily fit 2 rv's on it - easily. So nice privacy from others.

Using map we walked about 3 miles (round trip) to the end to 'big lake Johnson' ... Only to find big lake Johnson is dried up. lol. Has been for years. So save yourselves a mile or so and head towards the picnic area.

This is a large open space with playgrounds, restrooms, cooking facilities. (There's even vending Machines for drinks and snacks).

Restrooms were ok. Clean. Good hot water in showers.

Use the map to find trails and shortcuts. Have fun exploring. We saw hawks, eagles and deer.
We would revisit...overall. Good job.
