“Great place to stay if you like wine. ” for CarrollWoods RV Park @ Grapefull Sisters Vineyard
It is the wine vineyard that make this CG. They offer wine tastings and activities that will make your stay pleasurable and memorable. The sites are a little smaller than we usually prefer, but acceptable. The sites are level, very good water pressure, easy access, and very quiet. The park is clean as is the bath house. There's a new pool, also. The owners are very nice. HD cable TV is available. Wi fi, though it is weaker the farther you get from the front of the park. This place is out in the middle of no where so come prepared. There is a neat little super market a couple miles down the road.
If you like wine, you'll love the wine tasting. Be sure to request a wine float. This is a really neat little campground, a great place to spend a weekend.Date of Stay: September, 2013Rate Paid: $40.00
“Nice CG next to wine vineyard ” for CarrollWoods RV Park @ Grapefull Sisters Vineyard
The thing that makes this CG very good instead of average is its location. The office/wine bar/bed & breakfast is the nucleus of the place. It does have a new pool & gazebo at the bath house. Our site was level and had wood chips surrounding it. Water pressure was outstanding, but make sure you have two hoses as the spigot is at the far end of the site. That goes for the sewer hose, too. The personnel were friendly. Many tall pine trees that didn't offer the best shade. This place is quite off the beaten path so come prepared. The wine tastings are another unique feature here, but you better like sweet wine.Date of Stay: August, 2013Rate Paid: $42.00
“Getting even better” for Fancy Gap KOA
“Campground transformation” for Brown Mountain Beach Resort
Brown Mountain Beach Resort near Lenoir, NC has recently re-opened for RV's.
The owners cleared out all the old premanent trailers and really cleaned up the place.
He is building 6 full hook-up RV sites right on Wilson Creek; he is also putting in some RV sites for longer term rentals.
Some of the nice things about this CG are:
1) Trout fishing 20' from your site. It's awesome.
2) The scenery is breath taking, right on the creek.
3) It's isolated and quiet. No cell phones, no cable TV, no antenna TV.
4) There is wi-fi closer to the clubhouse.
5) Large swimming hole behind the rustic clubhouse.
6) Water sports up the creek. i.e. tubing & rafting.
7) The owners are really nice Christian people.
8) They also have 6 eclectic cottages for rent, some on the creek with a hot tub outside.
It is still a work in progress but it's coming along nicely.
If you like trout fishing and peace & quiet, this place is great.Date of Stay: April, 2012Rate Paid: $75.00

“A diamond in the rough” for Brown Mountain Beach Resort1 out of 1 people found this review helpful
This was an RV park for years, but run down. New owners have cleaned out the trash and are putting it bach into shape. The place is beautiful! The owners are awesome! No cable TV, no cell phone service, nothing fancy but beautiful scenery and great trout fishing. Give this place a year and I'll give it 5 stars.Date of Stay:Rate Paid: $50.00
“Stiil the best” for Willow Tree RV Resort0 out of 1 people found this review helpful
Spent another 3 day weekend here. It stillis one of the best campgrounds we've stayed. Large level sites, clean bath house, free wi-fi, activites. No cable, but I was able to receive 27 digital channels on my antenna. We'll be back soon.Date of Stay:Rate Paid: $40.00
“A disappointing KOA” for Statesville/I-77 KOA2 out of 2 people found this review helpful
The other review must have been written by an emplyee.
Small sites, had to park next to our trailer, 8" away. Many long term trailers with junk around them. Obscure cable stations. Low water pressure. This KOA needs lots of work. Next to I-77, highway noise. People on the office were very nice, though. A too expensive CG.Date of Stay: January, 2012Rate Paid: $43.00
“Nice trailer park, I mean campground” for Mount Pleasant / Charleston KOA0 out of 1 people found this review helpful
This KOA has a lot going for it. Nice nature trail, large lake, indoor heated pool, friendly people, 10 miles from downtown Charleston. Unfortunly, it also has many permanent RVs that makes it feel more like a trailer park. Good wi-fi, cable TV, water pressure, large sites. Lots of construction & traffic going on for a while, too.Date of Stay: December, 2011Rate Paid: $40.00
“A diamond in the rough” for Brown Mountain Beach Resort
This park is being redone by the new owners. If we're lucky, they'll include additional RV sites when reconstruction is completed. The park is secluded and directly on Wilson Creek. Great trout fishing, beautiful views, and awesome people(owners).
No cell phone service, but wi-fi works well.Date of Stay:Rate Paid: $0.00
