Great location, some sites are not good

Apparently they have experienced a major root rot issue with the pines in the cg. The trees were all cut down and very little clean up performed. It is particularly worse at the first loop in the right. While at your site, you?re staring at nothing but debris and downed trees. The hosts were all very nice. It?s a great location, close to Brevard. Unless your site is on the outermost edge closest to river, to get to the river you have to cut thru other people?s sites. It would be nice if they would make trails instead for accessing the river at various places.

Bias

They won?t accept Rotti?s. Mine?s been on dozens of camping trips. No issues, ever! I get annoyed with CG?s that are biased towards certain breeds. It?s the owners, not the dogs, that are the problem!

Hidden gem, for the brave at heart

If you?re willing to haul your rig thru the curves of hwy 64 and want to do some boondocking, this is the ideal campground. We pulled our 30? 5th wheel from SC. Use the truck route from Dillard to Sky Valley to Highlands. It?s a work out for your brakes, transmission, and your nerves, but well worth it! The curve in the campground is no problem. Fill your water tank before you back into your spot. The road noise is loud. Local hiking is decent. River is awesome. Bathhouse is clean.

Beautiful park

Campground is great. Clean facilities. Nice trails. Beautiful lake. 4 of 5 because of the downhill parking required when at the dump station, which makes it impossible to fully empty your tanks.

Great vacation!

I'm hesitant to say too much for fear it will make it harder to go back because too many people will find this place. We camped in the Live Oaks campground in site #121. I wouldn't recommend it for a larger than 30' RV because it would be nearly impossible to get it in or out. It's also a bad spot if it rains because of the grade that site has. But, it's very private. Mosquitos are bad, but tolerable if you have a fan. The beach is AWESOME and is a very short drive from the campground. Parking was easy. Never a large crowd at the beach. Lots of shells. Very relaxing. Already booked next years trip, but at the ocean front campground.

Mosquito Haven!

First of all, the park service has worked very hard to reopen the campground and it shows. The new restrooms are nice. Sites are level and in good shape. They lost all of the ocean front sites. The outermost sites are a haven for mosquitoes, especially those near the marshes. You will need lots of spray, a strong fan, and a tent with netting if you want to enjoy your campsite. Beach is beautiful and never crowded. People are super friendly. Will come back in the non summer months to avoid the mosquitoes.

Absolutely beautiful!

This is possibly our new favorite campground! I almost don't want to give a great review for fear this place will get too popular. If you want a beautiful place to relax that has all the great hookup, surrounded by mountains and beside a nice river, this is the place. Very nice owners. Very clean. Will be going back often!

Great location, clean park

First time in this park. Was in site 3B. Lots of room. Not too noisy, even from the local highway.
Key points:
1. The one street light is super bright. Good for protection, but lights up the inside of your camper and makes star gazing impossible. Only affects 1st row of sites.
2. Sites share a power and water outlet, so make sure you have extra hose and power cord for the distances.
3. The dump station location is so that your trailer will be downhill, making it impossible to fully empty your tanks.
4. Has free wireless, but when campground is full, it's super slow.

I'd go back. Location is awesome. Very close to parks and hikes. Miguel's pizza is about 5mins away and is pretty good.

Beautiful, but can be crowded & loud

First time in the park. Camped in White Oaks section, which is much smaller than other campground. Most of the spots are too small for 28+ size RV's. better suited for pop-ups and tents. Short drive to the hiking trails, not an issue.

Beautiful park!

This was our first time in this park. Enjoyed every moment of it. Very well-maintained and nice campsites. There are two trails nearby with great views of the lake.
