Weekend getawaay

In the middle of the Ocala National Forest rest ?Lake in the Forest Rv Resort? The GPS and Google maps were spot on getting here. Reservation was done by Reserve America. We were told that a package of information was mailed to us. (Email would of been easier)We never got it. We did receive a email from RA confirming our dates. When Hurricane Michael was bearing down on Florida we were not sure we could stay and I placed a call to the camp ground. Left and message and a call was returned promptly. We were told that we could either come on in on our dates requested or they would put the money towards another stay at a later date. No refunds
When we arrived there is a wroughtiron gate that requires a code. Since we never got a packet of info or on our email we had to call for the code. So please confirm with the camp owners ahead of time if you arrive late.
We are new to full time RVing So I am going to make some observations on this Resort.
We were greated at the gate by the owner after a phone call. Given instructions on how to get to our site. No one came to our site to insure we were okay. Site 51 power Pedestal was not working. We shut down the breaker and had the master breaker shut down as well. We were told that there was no one on the resort to help us. Thank goodness we had a EMS Progressive system . It was showing a code of E-2., which means there is an open ground green wire not working. We had to get the owner twice to help us. She had stated to us all she could do is move us to another site. We moved to site 19 Which they call a pull through but you must backout leaving. The front office staff was more concerned about us leaving on Sunday before 11am because they had a big group arriving. I find that we had electrical issues going on and trying to resolve our concern and the staff was more worried more about future reservations.
Taking care of the current reservation and problems first should have been addressed.
This place is off the beaten track. Very peaceful, very little noise and very pretty. Beautiful oak trees that provide shade to some of the RV sites, The wild life is awesome. This place caters to Snow Birds. It?s in need of of some major TLC. The Rv Sites need the grass mowed, the leaves blown off. Roads worked on. The picnic tables are old and worn. The cabins are in need of outside repair. One of the cabins had mold and ferns growing on it. There are animals on the property that belong to the owners. A few cats as well. The rec center is old and no AC. It was extremely warm inside the day we checked in. There is arts and crafts to do. I am not sure where the the public restrooms are as we our selfcontained unit. There is a short walking trail. The fishing dock looked like it got hit with the last hurricane 2017 and did not look safe to walk on. The view of the lake is beautiful but not accessible for use. There was a sign saying beware there are alligators. There is a pool on the premise that was still open and some children were enjoying its use.
This place is good for a a few days unless you are a snowbird.
The WiFi was good. There is firewood for sale, $5.00 dollar a bucket. Deb the owner was very pleasant. There was no store in the rec center, so the nearest super market is about 10 miles away.
If peacefulness is what you looking for, then this is the place for you.

Happy Camper

My family has stayed here numerous times and have enjoyed their warm hospitality, family atmosphere, and nature surroundings. Our church also does a Family weekend here every year, and that brings many fond memories to mind. Recently the owner's mother took some of the children out to feed the gopher tortoises on the property. That was priceless to see how she relates so well to the children. Also you can do many different crafts while there, such as ceramics, pottery, glass jewelry as well.

Relaxing weekend for my family

This quaint little campground in the middle of the Ocala National Forest was a great getaway for my family and I. Living in Ocala, only about an hour away, we were amazed that this campground was here and we had never heard about it. It's family owned and operated, so everyone was very friendly and the owner even took her time to give a private cermaic class for my kids. The mornings were quiet and relaxing, and my husband and I had coffee together overlooking the lake right from the front porch of the comfy cabin we stayed in. Those who come from a ritsy flashy vacation should go elsewhere, but if you are looking for a friendly, clean place to relax and keep your kids happy and busy, this is the place to go!

STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY AT ALL OR IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AT ALL THEN DON'T GO HERE. THE PLACE IS EXTREMELY UNKEMPT UNSAFE, AND RUN DOWN. THE SO CALLED FISHING DOCK IS UNSAFE AND FALLING APART, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET TO THE LAKE BECAUSE THE PLANTS AROUND LAKE ARE SO OVER GROWN FROM NOT BEING TAKEN CARE OF. THE WEBSITES MAKES IT SEEM AS IF IT IS A PLACE TO FISH AND SLEEP IN CABINS OVERNIGHT AT. THE CABINS ARE FALLING APART WITH SMELLS OF DEAD ANIMALS AND MOLD THROUGHOUT THEM. THE BOATS THEY HAVE TO RENT OUT ARE RUSTED WITH HOLES IN THEM. I WOULD NEVER ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO GO ON ANY OF THOSE BOATS IN THE ALLIGATOR FILLED LAKE.

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR THE WHOLE STAY BEFORE YOU GET THERE BECAUSE ONCE YOU GET THERE YOU WILL WANT TO LEAVE AND NEVER GO BACK. THEN SHE KEEPS YOUR MONEY AND WONT GIVE IT BACK, THEY ARE STEELING PEOPLES MONEY BECAUSE THE PLACE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE MONEY WITHOUT STEELING IT!!!!
