Quiet!

Brazos Bend is SO quiet! We stayed 3 nights in a class A. The sites are paved and wide, with a picnic table, fire pit, hook ups. The sites are spread out, huge trees near each site. The price was a little high for a state park, we thought. By the time you pay the $20 site fee and the $5/person/night fee, it came to $30/night for us. The showers were just OK, not great, kind of cold without a shower curtain on the non-handicap shower. Semi-clean showers, not bad at all but not as spotless as some.

The park itself is great. We counted 120 alligators on one hike alone. Beautiful. Nature center is nice, staff is nice. Very relaxing stay.

Beautiful Gulf Coast Park

Great park for only $18 per night. We stayed 4 nights in a Class A. There was hardly anyone there so we had the place to ourselves, it seemed. When we arrived, the spot we'd reserved did not have working electricity so we had to move, sort of a hassle at 10:30 at night. The pull thru pads are concrete and level. Each has a picnic table and fire pit. Free laundry, 2 washers and 2 dryers, big kind, very clean.

The showers were spotless, although you want to use the one closer to the park entrance as the other one didn't have shower curtains and the water was only semi-hot. The one near the entrance was perfect.

The park is very strict about all the rules, which is probably how they keep everything so clean but if felt a little oppressive. Got scolded by the camp host for trying to glance in to see the showers with my dog in tow. No dogs allowed on the beach, etc. We pick up after our dogs but I suppose everyone doesn't.

The maintenance guy (I think his name was Bob) was very nice and friendly and knew a great deal about the island wildlife.

The hiking trails around the salt water marshes are nice and again, no one else on the trails in the entire 3 days we hiked there.

One down side is that the shrimp boats heading to and from sea were very loud with their diesel engines drowning. Helicopters flew in and out (although not right over grand isle, it seemed) to the oil rigs offshore a lot. Too bad because other than that, it was super quiet.

Nice park, nice facilities, great price.

Great Park, Great Location

We stayed 2 nights and really liked this rv park. They take the Good Sam discount so our rate posted below reflected that. It was not very crowded, the staff was friendly and gave us tons of brochures to nearby attractions. Graceland is literally right across the street with the shuttle bus and ticket area on the RV side of the street. Could not be any more convenient. The park was pretty quiet, some traffic noise, airplane noise and train noise but no big deal. They have a GREAT park to walk dogs in, huge area. Our dogs are well trained so we were able to take them into the wooded type area to run around off leash. Showers are very nice and clean. The pool was closed due to the fact that it's winter. And the Elvis tour is fabulous. We went on the $36 per person platinum tour and saw the mansion, jet and car museum. Very worth the price. If you aren't an Elvis fan before the tour, you will be after. Despite the price, it was well worth it. Enjoy!
