Great Location for Exploring Yellowstone

We stayed here three days in July and the RV park is one of the nicest parks we stayed at. The park looks more like a suburban residential neighborhood with manicured lawns than your typical rv park. The service was great. If you are only in the area for a few days, paying the premiums is worth it. For longer stays, the cost might get too high.

Beautiful Setting

The reviews I read about the town of Cody made it sound like a trashy town, but it was actually a great town with plenty to do and more than a few restaurants. There was even a rodeo going on. When we where there in July 2012, which I guess runs for a while every summer. There were a few other rv parks in Cody, we didn't stay there because the reviews were bad, but when we drove by they looked decent. Not as much space as the Yellowstone Valley Inn.

The Yellowstone Valley Inn was a pleasant surprise. A plus or minus (depending on your preference) is that the Inn is 15 miles outside of Cody on the way to Yellowstone. The setting is very nice and quiet surrounded by the mountains and right on the river leading up to Buffalo Bill Dam. The RV park is gravel, each slot has its own fire pit and hookups. There are also cabins, a gift shop, a tiny pool, a swing set and a restaurant/bar. The staff were excellent and made the extra effort to make you feel welcome. We will stay there again, but this time more than1 day to give us time to explore more before heading to Yellowstone.

Lots of Space, Great Location

Our 2day stay at Rafter J's was great. The location is perfect for exploring the Black Hills and the facilities were very good. There's lots of space, the RV park is huge compared to others we stayed at. There's a game or with arcade games and a pool table along with a good-size pool, not a large bath tub like most RV parks. Next time we will stay here longer. Definitely worth paying a little extra to stay here.
