We stay at lake wisota state park once a year for the last 3 years. I like the wooded sites but sites are small. We had a hard time fitting a travel trailer and a small tent on them once we did there was hardly any room for lawn chairs. Not as secluded as we like. Some of the fire pits have grills but not all. Rangers ask you to quiet down even when you are just having a conversation. Beach is ok but need to drive to it. Lots of families biking.
Very forested!
Lots of trees at Lake Wissota State Park. We had a campfire and couldn't see the stars because of all the trees! Water is at the dump station and at a few faucets in the campground, but you need to block the road to fill. The sites are very large.
Went to dinner at The Edge, just a few miles from the park. Lots of trails in the park.
Must pay the WI daily pass fee ($10 for out of state) in addition to campsite fee.
Directions:
From Chippewa Falls, take State Highway 178 north to County Highway S. Turn right (east) on Highway S. In about 2 miles, Highway S goes over the Chippewa River where it empties into Lake Wissota. About 500 feet after the bridge, turn right (east) on County Highway O. Go about 2 miles to the park entrance, which will be on your right.
From State Highway 27, about 2 miles north of Cadott turn west on County Highway O. Continue on Highway O about 8.4 miles. The park entrance will be on your left.
