Nice find

Large mostly level sites. We were in a 40?. Lady at registration pleasant. Sorry we are only staying one night. Not too far off highway 8, however Google will take you down a narrow short cut to connect onto 55. EB stay on 8, do not turn on Rosa Rd ?. Btw these are not pull through, all back ins.

Nice park. Poor management.

Just spent the weekend at veterans park with some friends. The sites were big and were perfect for accommodating our group. Management on the other hand is nothing short of rude. I understand the importance of a speed limit in a park, however; we we hollered at for going too fast when we were doing the speed limit of 5 mph. We also had some of our group hollered at for walking the dog up to the bathrooms, not I NB the bathrooms, just in the area. Tracey's states that dogs are only allowed in your site or on the cement. This is not in any of the information poated on line or printed information given at the campground. Our group complied after the unfriendly encounter, but were not happy seeing a double standard. There were a few unleashed digs in the campground and a dog running unleased in he swimming area without a word said by management.
We don't mind friendly reminders of rules. But there is something to be said about flat out rudeness and double standards. Due this experience we will not return to this park nor will we recommend it for anything more than a day trip to the beach or to go fishing.

FYI, they DON'T take reservations.

I know I'm cutting it short, trying to get an August campground reservation with only a month lead time, but when I called Veteran's Memorial Park, I was astounded when the woman said that it's first come, first served. Really? And, for example, I called on Thur and this weekend is already full (July 25-26, 2015), campers started pulling in on Sunday and by Wed the park was booked through the weekend, and that scenario changes from week to week-you never know…..

How the 'H-E-double toothpicks' can you plan a vacation? I can't roll into camp 5 days before the weekend/week that I have off from work and "hope" a spot is open.

So, unless you're an RV "drifter" with a super flexible schedule and the ability procure alternative camping accommodations at the last minute, like, maybe parking your RV on the side of the road for the night or a week or whatever, or are a local who can sit on a site early in the week and wait for the weekend (or if you know a local who will do that for you), this campground is a crap shoot!

Too bad… the campground looks good and lake shore is really nice; I took my son swimming there when I lived in Crandon one summer, (and no, I don't know any of the locals). But it's not the only lake in Northern Wisconsin, I'll just take my business to the Eagle River area--it's prettier up there anyway.
