Excellent location for families

Nice RV park with lots of kids and groups. A little bit loud at night but manageable. Well maintained with a great fire pit for all to gather.

NEW TO ALASKA

Cheryl and I are new to Alaska and all that it has to offer. In re-searching for an adequate RV Park, our search's have been met with a reasonal amount of failure. That was about the truth until we found Portage Valley RV Park. When we arrived the surprise was almost to much to describe as it is a different that most any park we have ever stayed in. Being different does not mean it was worse than or better than any other park we have ever stayed in. Portage has a friendly atmosphere that greats you immediately upon your arrival. The quietness screams at you as it did with us. The week before we had stayed at what we call typical rv park with all the noise's usually found at most and with all the clutter normally found at most. After our short stay, we honestly hated to leave and has left us to make a decision on whether or not we can get back there before we leave Alaska. The yurk barn has a campfire every night at six and everhyone gathers there to talk, roast marshmellows, and what ever else they want to do. The sites are far enough apart to provide excellent privacy, the mountains that surround the park leaves you with a feeling of security. Be careful when trying to find the park as the sign out front is not very good and needs some home work to make it easier to find. Water and electricity are an option. Wash and dump are right close to one another. We gave this park five stars..just casue.
