Quiet, beautiful park with plenty to do!
We stayed at DeGray with a rally group in late April 2018. It's a beautiful park with all kinds of things to do depending on your interests. We took over Loop A and part of Loop B. Neither of those loops have a view of the lake. We were in A18. Asphalt, 30 amp, water. There is a dump station very nearby. We made use of it when we checked out, but it was pretty busy. I'd recommend dumping at times other than checkout as it wasn't busy at all during normal hours. The water spigot was on the opposite side, and we had to use our 2nd 25' hose to connect. This was consistent with most, or all, of the other sites in our loop. Make sure you have an extra hose or one >25' and you won't have an issue. The site was not level front to back, so we had to use blocks in the rear.
Our site was back-in, and was long enough for our 25' mh and jeep. There is a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are very spacious and it was a very peaceful environment. The trees are thick, so don't count on using satellite. The bathrooms and showers were clean, which we used so as not to fill up our gray tank. The bathhouse is near the entrance to the loop, so it could be a pretty good walk depending on where your site is. There is parking there though.
We didn't have an issue getting around and into our site, but I think certain sites could present a challenge to big rigs due to the hills and trees. You might want to call ahead and see if you can pick a site that will have good access.
We made use of the nice hiking trails...our only complaint is we wish they had some that were longer. The trails are well marked and groomed and not strenuous. The lake is pretty as is the scenery...we enjoyed riding around on our e-bikes...which were the envy of all our group since it's pretty hilly around there. We wish we had brought our kayak, because the lake would have been perfect for that. Part of our group went geocaching, which is a lot of fun.
We ate out at the lodge one night...the food was average, but we appreciated not having to cook or clean up, so won't complain! Bonus was we had nice view of the lake. Our Rally group rented the pavilion one evening for our potluck dinner. It's covered, has a concrete slab and has a grill...very nice for groups...it's closer to the lake, so we were happy we had our jeep!
There was a good bit of poison ivy around, so watch out if you our your dog gets off trail. Neither of us had an issue thankfully!
We'd definitely stay here again, but would go for the loop with lake views next time!
