Safe welcoming place

We just recently stayed at Kit Carson RV park in July 2016. Once we set up and talked with other travelers we felt very welcomed and safe. We had a full hookup site and were able to set up our dog fence. There is no pool for kids. You still see kids in the park. We would stay here again when traveling or when we retire. The owners are working on cleaning up the park more. The restrooms with showers need a little more attention but are okay to use. They do have a laundry that is coin operated behind the office. Don't let the entrance detour you. They have a storage area of RV and trailers that make it look not as welcomimg. But as you get past them and settled in and walk around and meet some of the people and snowbirds, travelers, you feel very safe and welcomed. They had a potluck when we stayed and on Sat in tent area they have coffee and donuts. Not sure if it cost. Everyone looks out for each other with a neighbor hood watch.

Horrid wifi for schoolwork

I'm a fulltimer while at University. The park is beautiful, reminds me of camping as a kid. Haven't had any problems with anyone since 10/2015.

BUT, after secured in site, with winterizing and propane tank rental, learned the free WIFI isn't. After I bought a power boost antenna, I usually had reasonable connections, until a neighbor moved in, completely blocking my antenna's access to the tower. Now, have to pay separately for installation and maintenance of my own broadband.

Additionally, my spot close to office is the base of the thawing snow's lagoon

Left Us High and Dry

Made a reservation with Sue but when we arrived around 7pm the office was closed and there were no instructions regarding our stay. After calls went unanswered we reached out to Black Bart's. Fortunately, BB was able to accommodate us.

Roughing It

This park is ok if you don't mind roughing it. My husband and I were not impressed with it. The campground is among the pines which is pleasing to the eye but it was very difficult finding out way through all the trees at night to find our way to our site. The roads seem to go in various directions and are not marked well.

The place consisted of a lot of storage for rv's and there was quite a few that looked like they lived in the park. We were given a site way to the back by ourselves. My husband opened the door around 9:30 pm and found a man and woman right outside our camp. The man asked if we were having trouble with our wi-fi which we find troubling since there were no other rigs anywhere near our site.

The laundry room was 4 washers and 4 dryers in a portable shed. I am not sure if they had showers.

In the summer for a young couple with a group of friends this might be a nice place but for an older couple I do not recommend this place.
