Great View

Our first stop on the journey landed us here. A great view to the sea. the RV placed about 100 meters from the beach. Too bad there is no hook up here. Spots are big

Great views

This site offers some really great views. You can take the 101 south all the way to Solana Beach I believe. Carlsbad (and neighboring city Encinitas) are nice because to a point they are still underdeveloped for beach towns. Carlsbad Village Dr. (aka Downtown Carlsbad) is 5 mins. away. If you are looking for a quiet beach town to visit. This is it.

Great Beach Campground, beach itself not so great...

This park has fantastic view spaces located on a bluff above the beach. Spaces are large with table and fire rings. Bathrooms were clean and the people camping here were respectful. Downside: the beach itself has suffered, as many CA beaches have, from storm erosion. There is very little beach to speak of at high tide. There are several staircases that descend from the campground to the beach, at least 2 of them are out of commission. Unfortunately CA state beaches are on the decline... Also, not cheap!
