Have been coming here since I was a kid...

The campground itself is nothing to write home about, but the location is unbeatable. A few minutes from Malibu, and just across Pacific Coast Highway is a fantastic beach with caves, coves and tidepools. The general store is great. Weather is mild year-round. I'll be bringing my kids here for years to come.

Pay to boondock

This is a naturally beautiful state park. There are plenty of trees and trails and wildlife, and it is attached to the State Beach so you can swim, explore tidepools and beach caves, surf, etc..

The only hitch is there are no hookups and you have to pay for showers will special coins you can buy at the park. there are water spickets you can use throughout the park, and we were ale to use one of their pull-through sites. The park was not crowded during the winter at all.
