*The campground has a long history with Ute hunting parties camped on Deep Lake's shores in the early 1800s. President Teddy Roosevelt used the same shore for his Flat Tops hunting party in 1905.
*NOTE: The first 9 miles of Forest Road 600, before Willow Peak, is narrow (intermittently single-lane) winding and steep with sheer drop-offs. THIS ROAD IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO FEAR HEIGHTS.
