Only if you have no other options

For $35 a night, one would expect the bathrooms to be cleaned. A toilet in the women?s bathroom was clogged for 2 days. The showers were dirty. And the whole place was cluttered and looked neglected.

Needs help

Stopped here for luckily only one night. Staff was helpful, but place needs a lot of work. Stayed in electric only because water connection in our spot doesn't work. Restrooms were pretty yucky. Lots of construction in the area, so lots of construction workers. Place just has a rundown feel and appearance, but not much else in the area. Price was high for just electric p, parking in the tent sites on the grass.

Times Change, Work Needed

This park needs a lot of help and the new owners seem to have the spirit, but the means is another matter.
The idea of traveling with horses, finding an RV Park with stables and a full hookup, pull through for your rv, is it viable. Not in the condition this park is in now. It is old and tired and worn around the edges with months of simple daily upkeep not being done.
The biggest problem seems to be ground water that is percolating to the surface. There is standing water and saturated soil in wide spots all over the park. In rural Illinois the farm word for this is ponding and takes acres out of production. It means that drain tiles should be installed or replaced, and they should be here...asap.
The park is not dirty or unsavory but rather it is messy, unkempt, junky. It needs a lot of picking up and a big dumpster. The initial impression is not good, the park is not attractive. Even the flagpoles are empty.
The office was locked with a call number when we arrived at 1:00pm. We waited about 30mins for the owner, who, after registering us, left again. We picked our own site after a walk about.
Part of the clean up here would have to be some of the permanent residents and their trailers. They are right on the edge of scary, but they also seem to be very much entrenched.
The park has potential but will require daily hard labor by all hands to bring it around. I don't see it.
The bathrooms are old KOA style and basically cleaned and functional. The bathrooms and showers could use some updating and TLC but will meet minimal needs. There is also a small laundry. There is a pool that probably looks good in season; right now it needs to drained and covered It is an eyesore. Wi-Fi was very good.
This was an acceptable overnight stay, we didn't even think of leaving, but certainly were not impressed and probably will not be back.

Our overnite stay at the campground

We were on our way to Crested Butte Colorado and staying here overnite. The barn was fantastic and super clean. Very easy access for our long rig 55 ft total. Very curtious staff.
Would definately recommend to travels with horses very....easy access off of highway 50. Moderate price for the great facilities.
