This park is located across US Hwy 287 from "Ted's Place" at the intersection where Hwy 14 veers off to go up Poudre Canyon (mile marker 356 on 287). It can be difficult to locate, but once you see the Shell station with the huge white flagpole on your left, continue about 150 yards north on 287 and you'll see the KOA entrance on your right.
The park is not a resort, but rather, an old-fashioned type KOA. There is a good playground for younger children, but teens may become bored with nothing but nature and ping pong to amuse them. Very convenient for those rafting on the Poudre or even wanting to see Estes Park without braving the crowds and cost of that KOA.
This park, Lakeside Resort (Ft. Collins) and the Wellington KOA are co-owned by the same two couples. Rates are higher at both the other campgrounds, but Lakeside has more activities for youngsters and is closer to the city center.
