Don?t waste your time!
Pull up, no one in office. UPS man was there and said he?s been here at least 6 times and no one has ever been there! Guy at pool said call number on the door. So we called, they said they would not be back for at least two hours. Go park and wait out in the lot out front. My husband asked if we could just pick a spot, they had lots, she said absolutely not. So we said See Ya and found an Amazing KOA just 40 minutes down the road!!! Unreal!!!
A good place to shop overnight.
An average RV park with suitable amenities. A few muddy areas when at weather hits. The big PLUS are the owner/operators., Donna & John. We departed after accidentally throwing an expensive piece of medical equipment in their dumpster. Two hours and 120 miles later, we discovered our mistake. After a call to Donna & John, they actually took the time to go through a large dumpster and located our equipment... all based on a phone call from strangers. Donna?s comment over the phone was, ?we just want to do the right thing.? What a bright spark in this world of deteriorating morals and values.
Needs Major improvements
Gravel & some mud! Lots have low spots. It was raining when we came & so large puddles. Nice young people checked us in. Surprised it even qualifies for KOA or the standards need improved.
It Is What It Is...
And that is a convenient place to stay overnight. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just gravel roads and sites that are fairly level, full hook-ups, cable, 65' long sites close together but mostly vacant, and renovating the bathhouses... $36/night and that's with a KOA discount... So a little pricey in my opinion for what it is... The reviews on here seem to vary and I guess it depends on the perspective of the reviewer... When I write reviews, 1 star is awful, 2 star is almost awful (I would not Hope to stay at a 1 or 2 star again), 3 star means average (I'd stay again and I really had no expectation of it to be anything other than a 3 for my needs), 4 star means better than average, and 5 star means I am blown away (I could hunker down in a 4 or 5 star place for awhile)... With all that being said, Limon KOA gets a 3 star rating from me... Happy Travels
Good Stop over
Very helpful staff. Good access. Level sites with good amenities. A good stopover if you're on I 70
Poorly kept and Over Priced
I have stayed at a dozens of KOA's across this great country, and the Limon KOA is by far the worst. General condition of the park is poorly kept. The RV sites are unleveled, with gravel and uncut weeds. When contacted by phone the Owner (Paul) quoted one price, and when we arrived it was quite different (over twice the quoted amount). When asked why? His reply was "Because we are full". Only looking around the park was not full. We normally do not give anything but Good reviews, but if I could describe my feeling about the Limon KOA from dealing with the Owner (Paul) it would be a feeling of being Un-welcome. We decided to keep driving and find another RV park. Very Disappointed in the Limon KOA
In the middle of nowhere
Limon, the 'hub', is a very tired and very small town with a nice new civic center and somewhat fanciful PR aspirations based on being the intersection of several intersections. Likewise, the Limon KOA, with its 2008 KOA President's Award, is a gravel based, level park with the combination of back in and pull thru sites.
The showers are somewhat aged. The shower vestibule has a fold down seat and hooks. The water is very hot. There is a small pool (closed for the season), a playground with tetherball and other equipment, a laundromat, a game/meeting room with a pool table and some antique video games.
They sell pizzas in the office and a neighbor gave it good reviews.
It is just off I70, which provides a reminder that you are on your way to somewhere else. Not a place to linger, but there aren't many other options in this part of the country.
