Very nice CO state park
One of the nicest state parks we've ever visited, there are numerous small ponds with walking paths that circle them. Early mornings and late evenings the birds really come out in the open. Nice view of the foothills and some of the Rocky Mountains to the west/northwest. Near I-25 so some road noise is present at all times but not overwhelming.
The full hookup sites are quite spacious, there are some trees but no problem using a satellite antenna at most sites. The pad itself was the best ever with level concrete with generous width/length; the water tap was surrounded by crushed gravel so there is no problem with muddy or wet areas from drips.
The cost to stay here for anyone without a parks pass is high; at $36 per night camping fee plus an additional $7 "park access fee" it isn't an inexpensive state park but still one of the more affordable sites in the area.
We Love This Park!
This is a great park. There is plenty of room between sites, and all have a pretty nice view of the Front Range. Our morning walks with the dogs was so nice and peaceful.
Lots of fishermen here, all kinds of fish. One lake has catch and release rules for the Bass.
There is a 2 week limit for campers here so other than the park hosts, there are no perms. Which we like.
Good for big rigs, lots of pull throughs. We only stayed one week, but will plan on two next year when we return.
St. Vrain State Park
This is one of many excellent CO State Parks. Nothing terribly fancy but sites for all users. Dry camping, elec. only or full hookups. If you have a tow vehicle, just be sure you are actually hooked up when you arrive or you have to pay for a second vehicle. There are different rates if you are a resident or have an annual pass but the price listed is out of state full-hookup and the daily park fee. Still very reasonable for this area.
Great pond and track
There are many ponds you can put a small boat on. For a small space the sites are well spaced and there is a great running trail around the ponds (about 1.25 miles around).
