Back to Nature Camping Close to Civilization
West Lake Campground is about 45 minutes west of Fort Collins. This little forest service campground has electrical hookups and water but it does NOT have a dump station. That's the only drawback; you'll need to go to the KOA in Fort Collins to dump and pay their crazy fee.
Otherwise, this place has it all. Lakeside camping, canoeing, hiking trails and a little village with supplies and a great restaurant.
Larger rigs may not fare as well here; there are a few pull throughs but most are back-in and only suitable for rigs less than 30'.
If you come in summer, get here midweek and you won't see anyone. By Thursday evening, the campground is full for the weekend.
