Traveler Reviews
BEWARE: NO PETS OR SERVICE ANIMALS ALLOWED
BEWARE: NO PETS, NO SERVICE ANIMALS (ESA) ALLOWED! Their pet policy is hidden in their website. You have to go 3 pages deep to find it. It isn't even on their camp info link. It's not on their home page. I called 4 times and told them I'm a big rig spending 5 days there. Never once did they ask, or give a "by the way are you aware, pets are not allowed". I waited 20 years to come to this park and drove 400 miles to get here only to be denied entry. I was left scrambling for a place to stay in the dark, in a big rig before a UF football home game. The roads to come in from 75 are narrow and difficult to maneuver. Luckily, Traveller's campground had a cancellation and I was able to get a site. They had informed me that they had another group flee the campground last New Year's because a group of campers installed a dance pole on the back of their pickup truck and had a bunch of girls dancing, drunk and raucous in front of kids. I guess that is acceptable but a service animal is not. That tells you where their priorities are. There are prettier springs in the area. Ginnie does not need my money.
For Water Lovers
Ginnie is located on a horseshoe bend of the Santa Fe River. There are multiple fresh water springs that feed into the river. Each spring is suitable for swimming. Classes are available for scuba and cave diving certification. One of the best features of this campground is the ability to walk a short distance, float for an hour down the river and only have a short walk back to your campsite.
There are multiple sites where you can community camp 2-4 RV's. as well as secluded single camp sites, down to primitive sites overlooking the river.
WARNING: avoid this place during holiday weekends if you are looking for a peaceful camping experience.
Only reason they don't get a 5 star rating is price.
