Loud, dirty, bumpy

Picked this place because we wanted something close to Chicago for a short visit in the city. Unfortunately, the restrooms here (men's) were beyond acceptable. Mold, dirt, webs, and insects all over the shower and toilet. The campsites (we had a pull thru) were so close together, that our slideout woul end up under the awning of our neighbor, if we had not moved to a different site. The wifi did not work for us. We connected fine and received positive indication for proper sign in, but the internet did not work. The campsite is next to the interstate with no treeline or construction to diffuse the noise. The road to get here has some of the worst potholes ever. Next time I would drive a bit further and find something cleaner and more quiet.

Magical

We fell upon Martin Campground on our first night of travelling Route 66. The guy that owned it was a great guy, and made us feel very welcome talking to the boys about English soccer.
We were a party of two couples in our forties from the UK in a 5berth RV. The sight had plenty of space between vehicles and lots of trees. The facilites were efficient if a little neglected. The showers had curtains and a small bench, also had hooks to hang things. The showers and toilets had a few cobwebs and could have done with a thorough clean, but they were useable and didn't smell.
We got there quite late, grilled and had a few beers and as soon as we had settled we were treated to a spectacular firefly display, the first time any of us had witnessed this, us being from the UK, it was magical, made our stay extra special
