Hurricane Creek - an unexpected jewel
As we often do, we tapped rvparking.com to find a place to overnight. Sometimes dry camping at WalMart works, sometimes not. I was concerned places might be full since it's Labor Day Weekend. I found this marked not far off I-24 and called. The camp host was great, said they had a space with water & electric, and I passed the phone to my husband for directions. This is designed and run by the Army Corps of Engineers. It's easy to find and it is just gorgeous. Lake Barkley is huge and kids were swimming at a sandy beach, folks were fishing and boating too. We have the annual National Parks Pass so our stay cost $9/night, which includes water and electric. With the pass it's an additional $14/night. Still affordable.
