A Cajun Paradise in the Swamp!

Oh my! Where do I begin? This place exceeded all expectations. I do believe this is without a doubt the best resort at which we have stayed. Upon arrival, you pull under a very large covered entrance that is unlike anything we have encountered before! We arrived on a Saturday night, and as noted by other reviews it is a happening place on the weekends for sure. The song "Louisiana Saturday Night" comes to mind. On the flip side, it was practically our own private resort thru the week!

The resort is gated. Upon check-in you are given a waterproof bracelet (like a stylish hospital bracelet) to wear the entire time you are at the resort. I admit that I did not care for that practice; however, I guess I can understand why it is necessary.

There must be over 300 sites in this park! The sites are spacious enough, although the grassy areas around them can be a little swampy. The sites are concrete and we were able to park our 43' motor home and two vehicles side by side in front of it. Furthermore, there are some sites that are under covered areas (cost more and usually those that are more long term). Trash pick up is curbside.

The landscaping and grounds are beautiful. There's 2 large ponds with lots of ducks. Not to mention, the patrons and owner are very patriotic. This truly appealed to us as Eric is retired military and I worked for the Department of Defense. There are also decked out golf carts everywhere! (But it does cost extra if you have a golf cart and use it.)

The resort had several bath houses, a very nice laundry facility, a game room, a gym, a theater, an inside gathering area, an outdoor lounge, a miniature golf course, and the best part-- the pool!

The pool deserves its own paragraph. There was a dance area for when they have a band or DJ. There was a lazy river hot tub. The pool was a lazy river with a swim up bar, complete with underwater bar stools. Patrons could order food (not thru the week). There was a gigantic kiddie pool with many cool water features and a pirate ship, plus a twin water slide. The ambiance at night was astounding with the music and lights.

The resort was also convenient to Lafayette and area restaurants. We went to Avery Island and toured the Tabasco Factory. I also heard that Cajun Food Tours is a great thing to do, although we ate at Prejean's instead.

Some reviews I read complained that the price was too extravagant. However, I believe the price was reasonable for the experience you get here. I've certainly paid more for much less in the past. If you're a hermit, this is not the place for you. Personally, I loved it-- despite all of the purple and gold!

Don't waster your $$

Hated it! Crowded because they allow outsiders who aren't camping use their pools and facilities on a day pass. Sites are close, loud music on golf carts ALL DAY LONG AND INTO THE NIGHT. Pool was dirty because of overcrowding, bathrooms not cleaned throughout the day....ugh, never again.

Not stay again

We picked this place because it is next to Crawfish Town, a restaurant we wanted to try. It is very IMPORTANT for hubby to get email. He asked at checkin to make sure to get a site that has good signal. Well no WIFI and he is hopping mad and we will NOT be back

Great place to stay

This is my go to stop in the Lafayette, LA area. We've stayed 4 or 5 times. Everything you'd want in a park, except shade. Crawfish Town and Landry's restaurants are near-by and excellent. They have a two night minimum for a reservation. Will accept single nights if they have vacancies. Don't expect to find a vacancy on weekends.
