Kick back and watch ships go by!
On a last minute decision to head to Sault Ste Marie, we decided to give this location our first shot for finding a last minute space. When we pulled up on a Monday early afternoon, it looked pretty full. But the very helpful reservation agent at the desk pointed us to several spots available for the night that had decent waterviews.
We selected one, and really enjoyed the location and our evening there. A great location for taking a Soo Locks boat tour too - it's just a short walk down the road to Dock 1.
The open areas of the park really help make this is a pleasant experience. Even if you don't score a waterfront site, you still have access to the shoreline to watch barges come and go.
The park is nicely laid out, with care taken to maximize the views. The staff seems really well versed in which sites are best for trailers & 5th wheels and which for motorhomes. They are very strict on their 'back in only' rule - apparently there was once a big fist fight between neighbors fighting over who's yard was whose when someone pulled in forward to get a better view, causing an awning-to-awning situation.
So do be sure to request a site where you'll get the best view while backed in!!
The next morning we checked in to see if there was a waterfront site, and they were able to get us a stellar one with a panoramic view. Fantastic!
The WiFi was strong and fast throughout the park, and Verizon & AT&T both had great 3G signals. The electric & water hook-ups are shared between sites at the rear, so you may end up needing a longer hose/cord than otherwise to reach.
