Scenic and Relaxing

There is something for everyone here at this state park. Agree with the previous reviews already posted here and will avoid repeating them. I will add that many of the sites will require some leveling, and none of the sites have a water tap. Fill your fresh tank on the way into your site and ration accordingly. We stayed in Campground 1 and found it to probably be the most quiet of the 3 campgrounds; it's a bit removed from the nearby highway unlike campground 2,3. Excellent restrooms and shower rooms, the entire park is extremely clean. This park is one that the state has installed complimentary wifi and at least in campground 1 it worked very well thru the entire campground. There are some sites nearest the restrooms in campground 1 that will allow use of a satellite television antenna but the further back in the loop you go the thicker are the trees. I could not get a single over-the-air channel with my rooftop antenna.

Recommend hiking a portion of the trail system here. It's quite extensive, some are simple (The River Trail), others are more difficult (Fire Tower Trail). My favorite was the Eagles Nest Trail but all of them are great. We stayed here in a travel trailer and would return.

Jewel of the Ozark Mountians

This a must visit park. If you love trout fishing, hiking, lounging in a cool spring feed river. Great for the whole family. There is not a bad camp ground. Our favorite one is the west end of camp ground 3, large trees lots of shade first come first serve. The east end of camp ground 3 lost most of its large trees to storm damage. It has great rest room and showers. Very clean park. Very active ranger station with tour & activities. If your are coming from a ways off camp ground one you can make reservations. Very nice also. There is good wifi in the whole park. ATT cell service does not work here.

First Visit

This is an awesome destination for adults and families. We stayed in campground #1 which we will choose again. Camp #2 is okay. Camp #3 has very little shade. Camp 2&3 are closer to the river for fishing or hanging out in the water on hot days. Camp 1 has a pool and lots of shade spots. The general store is centrally located and offers good service. Fishing and cleaning station are close by. Very scenic. Most sites are electric only. Several water stations are throughout the camp. Online reservations are helpful. Nearby town with Walmart is 7 miles away. Really don't have any cons to report.
