Additional Pet Information:

Enjoying Missouri State Parks with your Pet Responsible pet owners and their pets are welcome in Missouri state parks. Following are a few simple rules to ensure that you, your pet and other park visitors enjoy the outing. These rules apply to all types of pets except service animals assisting people with disabilities. Pet Rules Keep it to two dogs or less per campsite. As a courtesy to other visitors, it is recommended you bring no more than two dogs per campsite. This also helps reduce the impact on the natural resources and aids with noise control. Keep your pet on a leash (not longer than 10 feet) at all times. Even the best trained pets can be unpredictable when in a different environment. Other pets, people and wildlife can be a distraction. Keeping your pet on a leash ensures its safety as well as the safety of other visitors. Keep your pet under control at all times and quiet. Do not leave a pet unattended. Barking dogs can ruin the enjoyment of the park for everyone. Leaving a pet unattended, even if properly leashed, can be a danger to the pet and nearby visitors. If you need to leave your pet at the campsite, secure your pet inside the camping unit/tent. Do not leave it outside the camping unit, even if leashed. Pets are not allowed inside any state park or historic site building, or in public swimming areas and beaches. Clean up your pet's waste. No one wants to step in the mess left behind. Bring your own bags to pick up your pet's waste. Also check with staff to see if there are waste bag dispensers located in the park. Ensure that the waste bags are placed in a trash receptacle after use. Failure to abide by certain rules may result in a citation or your removal from the park.

One of our favorite parks

Nice, shaded spots near Weston. Quiet and scenic (hilly but flat parking spots) it's beautiful in the fall. This is a great place to relax yet close enough to civilization to enjoy the best KC has to offer. Fill your water tank at the dump station. Book early, this one fills fast.

Nice Stop Over

This park is a very pleasant place. A typical single loop configuration with mainly back-in sites, and a couple pull thrus. There are sites with electric (30 and 50), but as is typical in more northern parks - none have water at them. Be sure to fill up on your way in at the dump station.

The sites are nicely spaced out, so you shouldn't feel on top of your neighbor. The host on duty was super friendly.

We took a trip into the cute town of Weston - be sure to visit the McCormick Country Store, the tasting room for the distillery. You can get taster shots for a quarter! Lots of cute little shops to explore.

Within the park, you can walk or drive up to the scenic bluff overlook, and there's an old tobacco barn to look at. Not much else to do in the park itself.

All and all - a nice stop, and probably a quick get away from Kansas City.

We had decent AT&T and Verizon signal.

Went on last minute trip. Took open site and it was a nice site. Liked that they are not on top of eachother. Dump station had easy access.

Nice state park

We stayed two nights in May, 2011. Gravel sites vary as to being level. Roads were OK for big rigs. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. We had no problems. Dump station was convenient and well kept. Easy access and gated after 10 p.m.
