Horrible customer service

I'd like to advise people to be careful when you stay at Rivertown Campground in Vicksburg Mississippi. They have treated us wrong. The cities main water line broke and can't be fixed for 5 to 7 days because the break is under the Mississippi River. I have 3 children and the rv park refused to give us a refund for our unused days. They said they would give us a rain check. But my husband talked to the owner on the phone who called my husband names I won't mention and he eventually said he would refund our money. Well my husband's co-worker asked for a refund also. And since he asked for one also the owner refused to refund our money after saying he would. I wouldn't take the rain check because I will not return to that park. I was never handed any rules for the park upon arrival and the manager of the park never came to our door to tell us about the water break. They tried to give the rules to me after they refused to give me a refund. I understand it's not their fault but they have no way to supply us with water for a week nor do they care I have an infant and two other children. So please do not waste your time with this park. In an emergency situation you should refund people their money for unused days so they can go else where. This is also violation of health codes. This park will get all kinds of disaster relief funds from the city because of the cities water being out. But they couldn't refund me my money to bring my family to a place that has water. Do not waste your time with rude people who careless about your needs when you are paying them to provide a service.

Nice Place

Worked nearby for a year and got to know the managers. They were the nicest couple, and willing to help in any way. The campground is large with plenty of room for the largest RV. It has a pool. Any other entertainment is up to you. Nice cheap laundry room. Best place to stay unless you want to be closer to Casinos. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Vicksburg area. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about.

Not for nature lovers or enjoying company

My parents camp with a large nationally known camping group. On many occasions I will drop in and spend the day with them if nearby camping. I come and go inside the campgrounds with no bother, maybe just the occasional state park drive thru where you wave and say you’re visiting, never getting out of the vehicle. River Town Campground in Vicksburg, MS is not like the other campgrounds where you come to enjoy nature and the company. It is run like a military barrack with check in even if you’re just popping in. If you don’t stop, get out of your car (no matter the weather) and go in, you will be hunted down! Also, under no circumstances should you park on the grass, you will be hunted down. Mind you the pads are not paved and depending on your rig size you may not even have room for your own vehicle, much less an in town visitor. There isn’t much mischief you could get into (not that I would) considering it’s mostly a flat open area with very little trees, you can see anyone at anytime so I’m not sure why all the fuss about “check in” is so significant. If nature and peace is what you’re looking for, go elsewhere. Truly, I’m amazed that someone with such poor people skills would own a place for people to come and go. The only plus side is it that is maintained, but then again, so is a military barrack!
