Traveler Reviews
The Great Outdoors RV Resort, Franklin, NC
We stayed 7 days and it was a great place for us. It is close to several mountain cities and great scenery. Perfect for me because of the photography options, i.e., mountains, waterfalls, nature, etc
New Owners
The Great Outdoors RV Resort has new owners. Ron and Mary Blake have sold their 18 room Inn in Vermont and are now dedicating their considerable talents to making this RV Park a premier destination site for discriminating RV Folks. The recent, August 2012, inspection by the combined Woodalls, Trailer Life and Good Sam resulted in an almost perfect score of 9.5/10*/9.5. Recognized in 2012 as one of the top 300 Parks in the USA by Trailer Life it is anticipated, with the new rating, to see it even rated higher. Could it make the top 100?
Great View at the Great Outdoors!
The park is elevated in the foothills above the valley and US 441 and has a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. There are many good things to say about this park besides the grand view and many amenities for both individual campers and groups. Exceptionally clean grounds, nice landscape, level but gravel sites. Nice office with supplies inside, bbq grill available with tables/chairs and rockers outside. It has a small gym, and a nice size meeting room for those group occasions. Staff is friendly and there are some restrictions and extra fees for extra people etc. AT&T and Verizon available.
Some of the CG’s in the area are tight and not really suitable for the larger rigs, but this one has none of that. It features easy access from 441 with plenty of negotiating room and just 4 or 5 miles outside of Franklin. Good Sam member.
We were back at this RV park May, 2011. The rates are lower than before but the bathhouse was dirty, and did not get cleaned for 3 DAYS and there was NO TOILET PAPER for 2 days. I think they must have had an owner change because it wasn't the same as before. 2 stars.
