Absolutely Lovely!

Such a beautiful campground that is easily accessible from I-94 and the little town of Medora. $10 entrance fee to get in the park (or use your national park pass), then a 5 mile drive to the campground. The road was under construction during our visit, but was easily passible.

The campground is all first come first serve. If you have a larger unit, go to the pull-thru side at the Y. The back-in section didn't seem to have spots that would fit anything larger than about 22-25' max. But there are some huge & lovely spots in the other section. Arrive by mid afternoon on most days, and you should be able to snag a spot. During our 4 days in the park, all sites were pretty much taken by late afternoon.

Decent cell service for both AT&T and Verizon.

See the buffalo roam

While there is no electricity or water at the sites, there are many water faucets throughout the park. Half of the sites are pull thrus, half are back ins. Lots of trees, large sites. Paved roads, gravel sites. Flush toilets, no showers.
We hiked in the park, some on trails, some cross country. Saw lots of buffalo and prairie dogs all over the place. Wild horses came through our campsite while we were eating dinner. And when we were leaving in the morning, the picnic area was full of bison just eating THEIR breakfast. Cool park; cool campground.
