Great Location
We chose this location because of the proximity to the Chama River but also because it is a short distance to some excellent trout fishing in Colorado (La Manga Creek, Conejos River). The fishing on the Chama River has not been outstanding but has been good because the water level is low.
The weather has been much cooler than Texas so it is enjoyable outside. There is a combination Lowes Supermarket/Ace Hardware in Chama for most items you might need. Several good restaurants in town. And then you have the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad for a nice trip to Antonito, CO.
Pagosa Springs, CO is 48 miles away. They have a nice Walmart and many nice restaurants as well as the Hot Springs for a relaxing day in the pools. The drive from Chama to Pagosa Springs includes a lot of beautiful scenery. While in the Pagosa Springs area, a drive over Wolf Creek Pass will take you through some beautiful scenery to South Fork, CO.
