Traveler Reviews
Mud Lake Campground , Dubuque, Iowa
Very difficult to find. The road in is very rough and the turns com quickly without warning. The campground is VERY clean however the showers in the bathroom need help. They are push showers that shut off within seconds and NO HOT WATER. The campground is very noisy with the train tracks slammed up against it and the trains blare their horns when they come through, incluidng the wee hours of the morning. It is child friendly with a wonderful playground but no swimming. There is a muddy inlet area to fish for catfish but you have no view of the mississippi river unless you walk to the inlet. A restuarant/bar is within walking distance and the closest amenities for gas/gorceries is the BP 4 miles away. The road is difficult for big motorhomes so expect some bumps and slow driving on HWY 52 and Mud Lake Road on the way. We barely came through with our 30 foot travel trailer.
Location:
Mud Lake Park is located 6 miles north of Dubuque off of Mud Lake Road. Travel north on Highway 52 until you reach the town of Sageville. A BP gas station is located on the corner of Highway 52 and Sherril Road. Turn Right on Sherril Road and take the next right onto Mud Lake Road. Brown county park signs on are located from Highway 52 north to the park entrance to help guide visitor to the park.
