UGH! What a Loser!
The beauty of Crater Lake NP gets quickly overshadowed by the blatant ripoff by the Xanterra concessionaire. You pay normal space prices for a dirt patch, no power, water or sewer, and for absolutely FILTHY, ill equipped restrooms. Showers? HAH! You can't get a clean one or hot water for more than a minute or two UNLESS YOU PAY Xanterra
for a short burst of hot water an extra, pricy amount ( hot not guaranteed). WIFI you ask? Xanterra will bill your credit card or you can just live without it - oh and cell service doesn't exist either here. This sucks worse than gravity! Worst RV camp ever!
Really great forest camping (adjacent to a lodge)…
We loved the atmosphere and the spacious site, the clean restrooms (with cold showers).
Awesome primitive camp.
CALL AHEAD AND SAVE A SPACE!!!! We called that morning & when we arrived late afternoon there were people standing around hoping for cancellations.
Don't go to the trouble of driving the rim and then not get a spot!,
In fact you don't have to drive the rim road if you come from the Southern most entrance to the park. If we ever come back that's the route we'll take.
Rim Road in an RV is like driving on the edge of a knife while navigating switchbacks. You also gain over 1000 feet in elevation, so uphill, switchbacks, big rig…NEVER AGAIN!!
