Full but quiet
Electricity & water - only $29! No charge for shower. Lovely level site - trees on both sides of the site I chose so was extra careful when parking. Several loops were closed but will be opened next week-end. Has 27 yurts which people use a lot when there are big storms I was told.
Convenient Spot
This state park is conveniently located to Newport, with access to the 'big city' and its attractions. A great base camp for exploring the lighthouses, downtown and the aquarium.
The park itself is treed, and most of the sites have a bit of space around them. For a park of its size and how packed in the sites are, it had a bit more of a relaxed feeling. We came for 2 nights, and ended up extending for 3 more to explore the area from. In the off season, they shut down the back loops but open them up as sites fill in.
Walking trails to the beach are pretty decent, and it is a bit of a walk. There's an onsite frisbee golf course that is pretty run down.
We had great Verizon and AT&T signal here.
Beverly Beach State Park, Newport, OR
Nice park, but the access roads are narrow and the trees haven't been trimmed in a long time, and are much too close to the roads. I scratched the side of my rig badly trying to get in/out of my site. Great access to the beach on paved hiking/biking trails. Close proximity to many local attractions, especially downtown historical Newport. Very busy CG, even in mid-Sep. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
South Beach State Park
Another huge Oregon campground on the coast, and for the off-season it was surprisingly full. A bit of a walk to the beach. Nice place. I only stayed here one night.
Busy park
This is one of the busiest parks along Hwy 101. Sites are flat, spacious, but not very private. The campground is about 1/3 mile from the beach. There are a number of walking trails that parallel the beach and go to the beach. One of the trails is fully paved; the others are sand, gravel, and partly paved. Wifi has been disconnected.
The campground is open all year. Bathrooms are fine but not exceptional.
